O Brasil vai ser sede do mundial de marcha atlética por equipes em 2026. Segundo informações do Olympics.com, Brasília será a cidade sede da competição que deve acontecer em abril do próximo ano. A Capital Federal ganhou a disputa contra Samborondón, no Equador, e Varsóvia, na Polônia em decisão anunciada na última terça-feira (25) pela World Athletics.
A ideia da organização é que o percurso passe por alguns pontos turísticos da cidade como a Esplanada do Ministérios e a Catedral Metropolitana. A última edição da competição aconteceu em 2024 em Antália na Turquia.
País tem medalhista de prata olímpico na modalidade
O fato é que Brasília é a base do medalhista de prata olímpico, Caio Bonfim. O atleta é nascido em Sobradinho e ficou em segundo lugar na marcha atlética individual na distância de 20km nas Olimpíadas de Paris em 2024.
Além das Olimpíadas, Caio acumula também duas medalhas de bronze em Mundiais de Atletismo (2017 e 2023), mais quatro medalhas em Jogos Pan-Americanos e o bicampeonato do Circuito Mundial de Marcha Atlética para o Brasil.
Fora das pistas, a família de Bonfim é responsável pelo CASO (Centro de Marcha Atlética de Sobradinho) conseguiu classificar outros dois atletas na modalidade em Paris 2024: Max Batista e Gabriela Muniz, dois nomes que também estão consolidados no cenário nacional.
Mãe de Caio quase foi para Olimpíada de Barcelona
O histórico da família, em olimpíadas, quase começou nos Jogos de Barcelona em 1992. Isso, porque Gianetti Bonfim esteve muito perto de ser convocada, pelo Brasil, para aqueles jogos. Mas na lista final, ela acabou sendo cortada. A partir daí, ela começou a observar o filho e foi ser sua treinadora.
“A verdade é que conheci o esporte por causa dele. Eu não podia treinar porque teve uma fase que o Caio ficou muito doente. Eu tinha de ficar com ele no hospital. Era direto, meningite, pneumonia dupla, ele teve muitos problemas de saúde. Minha vida era viver no hospital com o Caio.”, contou a ex-atleta em entrevista ao O Globo em agosto de 2024.
Como funciona a marcha atlética
Na marcha atlética, a perna da frente precisa estar estendida quando tocar o chão e a ponta do pé de trás só sai do chão quando o calcanhar do pé da frente tocar o solo. Os atletas não podem violar as regras da marcha, como levantar os dois pés do chão ao mesmo tempo ou dobrar as pernas de forma inadequada.
Os juízes monitoram os atletas para garantir que as regras sejam respeitadas e os competidores podem ser desclassificados se violarem as regras. As competições de marcha atlética geralmente são realizadas em distâncias variadas, incluindo 20 km e 50 km.
