Sydney Sweeney was recently seen with Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell in Dallas, just after calling off her wedding to longtime fiancé Jonathan Davino.
The two enjoyed a meal together at Joe Leo Fine Tex Mex, alongside friends, over the weekend, sparking interest in their relationship amidst the actress’ personal life drama.
Close friendship, not romance
Sources confirmed that Sweeney was in Texas for Powell’s sister’s wedding, although Powell was absent during the brunch outing.
Insiders also clarified that Sweeney and Powell are very close friends, particularly with Powell’s sister, with whom Sweeney shares a long-standing friendship. Sweeney, dressed in a black long-sleeved top and wavy blonde hair, appeared in high spirits. Powell, wearing a polo shirt, looked equally relaxed while sipping cocktails and chatting with the group.
While rumors have swirled, especially considering their close bond, the two were not attending the wedding together as a couple. Sweeney had RSVP’d months ago, before her breakup with Davino, showing that her relationship with Powell and his family is entirely platonic.
Just days prior to this sighting, news broke that Sweeney and Jonathan Davino had officially called off their wedding, which had been planned for this spring. Sources revealed that the couple had been facing “major issues,” with Sweeney feeling overwhelmed by balancing her career and wedding plans.
A source close to Sweeney stated, “Sydney is really focused on her career,” while Davino, a film producer, “wishes they were able to spend more quality time together.”
Despite their breakup, the couple is reportedly not fully split. Another insider told Us Weekly that they are “working on their relationship” and have not given up on it entirely, leaving the door open for possible reconciliation. Sweeney’s career focus, however, remains a significant strain on their relationship.
