Trump asserted that his statement is no joke and that “there are ways to do it“, aware that his desire to command the United States once again as president contravenes a constitutional law, which he is studying how to bring down to make it happen.
This is the 22nd Amendment, added to the Constitution in 1951 after the election of President Franklin D. Roosevelt four times in a row. It has since stipulated that “no person shall be elected to the office of president more than twice“.
Trump qualified his words
Later, on the Air Force One flight that took him back to Washington DC, Trump told reporters covering the presidential source: “I’ve been asked for a third term, which is sort of a fourth, because the other election, the 2020 election, was totally rigged.” Trump did not say ‘who’ asked him.
“I don’t want to talk about a third term now because, any way you look at it, there’s still a long way to go,” Trump said, noting that everything drastic that has been seen in his terms of office would pale in comparison to a decision like this, which just by mentioning it, has set off many alarm bells around the world, but especially in the United States, where Democrats have already cried foul, again invoking an eventual ‘dismantling of democracy’ by the president.
In any case, Trump’s statements are not very credible if we take into account that at the end of this second term he would be 82 years old, an age that in electoral terms is not a good handicap for anyone who aspires to such a position of global responsibility.
