Brighton & Hove Albion could be without record signing Georginio Rutter and central defender Adam Webster for the rest of the season.
Both players suffered injuries in normal time in Saturday’s exit from the FA Cup quarter-finals on penalties at home to Nottingham Forest.
Rutter limped off with a right ankle injury in the second half after twisting awkwardly and was replaced by Brajan Gruda. Webster went down with a hamstring problem at the end of 90 minutes. He was replaced in extra-time by captain Lewis Dunk, who returned from six games out with a rib injury.

Head coach Fabian Hurzeler, speaking at his press conference ahead of Wednesday’s home game against Aston Villa, said: “Both injuries don’t look great, so we have to add them to our injury list. Georginio has an ankle injury and Adam a muscle injury.”
Asked if Rutter and Webster will miss the rest of the season, Hurzeler added: “It’s possible”.

Rutter has impressed in the No 10 position since a £40million move from Championship side Leeds United in last summer’s transfer window. The 22-year-old Frenchman has registered eight goals and four assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
Webster has shone as Dunk’s deputy since returning in January from three months out with a hamstring injury.
Hurzeler put a brave face on regarding the prospect of losing two more players for the run-in. “I see it more as an opportunity,” he said. “Now it’s another chance for Gruda, for Matt O’Riley, for Cash (Eiran Cashin).”
Hurzeler’s side are seventh in the table, two points above Champions League quarter-finalists and FA Cup semi-finalists Villa in the congested race for European places.
“It’s a great opportunity for a comeback,” he said of tomorrow night’s clash at the Amex Stadium.
“The setback of Saturday doesn’t feel great, but the feeling of a comeback is always greater and we have the opportunity to do that. We have proved we are a team that can stick together after a big loss like that.”
