El WOW 17 del pasado sábado estuvo lleno de grandes combates, entre los que destacó la victoria por TKO de Hecher Sosa (12-1) ante Thiago Enrique (10-5). El ‘Guanche Warrior’ fue el único español capaz de ganar en la cartelera estelar y mostró sus sentimientos a flor de piel tras el combate al dedicarle el triunfo a su padre. A pesar de los grandes resultados obtenidos en el octágono durante los últimos meses, a nivel personal son momentos difíciles para el peleador canario.
“Me he dicho a mí mismo que si esta era la última pelea que iba a ver mi padre con vida no me iba a ver perder. Eso ha sido un mantra que me he repetido una y otra vez. Cada vez que entrenaba, en el corte de peso, haciendo la bañera, me repetía eso una y otra vez”, dijo Hecher en rueda de prensa. Y eso hizo, no perdió.

A pesar de empezar el combate más frío de lo habitual, y recibir algún que otro golpe de poder por parte del brasileño, poco a poco Sosa se fue entonando hasta que en el tercer y último asalto finalizó a su oponente. Sin embargo, la victoria fue un tanto agridulce por el cúmulo de desgracias por las que ha pasado.
Eso sí, rendirse nunca ha sido una opción para el canario, pues le sobran motivos para no hacerlo. “Tengo a mi hermana en el cielo que se tiene que sentir orgullosa de mí. Tengo a mi hija, que a ver qué ejemplo le daría yo como padre si cuando se ponen las cosas feas paro y lo dejo todo de lado. No entraba en mi mente parar. Por mi hermana, por mi hija, por mi padre, y por toda la gente que me quiere y que me sigue”., prosiguió.

Un corazón inquebrantable
La resiliencia de Hecher es digna de admirar, al igual que su oratoria cuando tiene un micro delante. Lo que dice, lo hace, y de momento tiene a tiro una llamada de la UFC. “Nada ni nadie va a pararme, y lo demuestro no solo con palabras sino con hechos”, finalizó. De momento, si nada se tuerce en junio se verá las caras con Yaman ‘El Diamante’ por el cinturón de WOW de peso gallo.

En caso de ganar su siguiente combate, la oportunidad se antoja inevitable. Lo que no volverá a repetir será lo de compartir cartelera con un compañero de gimnasio, ya que la derrota de Theo Bashford fue otro varapalo antes de salir a pelear. Como el propio Hecher comentó, ver a su compañero llorando tras la derrota no fue plato de buen gusto de cara a su combate. A pesar de tener todo en contra, Hecher vio su mano levantada el pasado sábado, haciendo valer el ‘Warrior’ de su apodo.
