Packt es der BVB nach dem 3:1 gegen Mainz doch noch in die Champions League?

Die Vorzeichen für Trainer Niko Kovac (53) könnten besser sein. Es sind interne Vorgänge oder auch persönliche Interessen, die einen dauerhaften Erfolg in dieser Saison so schwer machen.

Während etwa der FC Bayern mit Joshua Kimmich (30) und Leverkusen mit Granit Xhaka (32) klare Anführer hat, fehlt ein solcher Häuptling beim BVB. Beispiel: das Auswärtsspiel in Bochum Mitte Februar. Nach der 0:2-Pleite sprach kein einziger Spieler mit den Journalisten, die in der sogenannten „Mixed Zone“ warteten. Waldemar Anton (28), der bei dem Spiel nicht zum Einsatz kam, bekam das mit und sprach es kurz nach Spielende in der Kabine an. Dass es nicht sein könne, dass sich kein einziger Spieler den Fragen stelle. Im Nachgang sprachen einige Führungsspieler noch einmal über die Situation. Eine Meinung dabei: Dass die Journalisten ja eh schreiben, was sie wollen. Anton hielt dagegen: Dass man mit eigenen Aussagen Dinge einordnen könne. Immerhin: Am Ende gab es etwas Einsicht im Führungszirkel der Mannschaft.

[–>Dass das Spiel in Bochum für den BVB zum Grauen wurde, hatte sich schon im Training abgezeichnet. Kovac ließ die A-Elf, die beim Revier-Nachbarn zum Einsatz kommen sollte, gegen die Reservisten antreten. Resultat: 4:0 für die B-Elf. Ein Ruck ging dennoch nicht durchs Team.

Die Probleme kamen jedoch nicht erst mit der Kovac-Verpflichtung Ende Januar. Über Monate nahm die Anzahl der Spieler zu, die auch mit ihrer persönlichen Situation unzufrieden waren. Dazu gehört auch Gregor Kobel (27). Der Schlussmann konnte sich nur bedingt mit der Spielweise von Sahin identifizieren. Dass der Spielaufbau fast immer spielerisch gelöst werden sollte, war nicht nach dem Geschmack des Schweizers. Unter Sahin spielte Kobel im Durchschnitt alle 2,68 Minuten einen Pass, unter Kovac sind es nur noch 4,1 Minuten im Schnitt. Es war ein Grund dafür, warum auch beim Torhüter die Stimmung kippte.

Marcel Sabitzer (31) ist einer der streitbarsten Charaktere beim BVB, seine Rolle in der Kabine ist eine spezielle. Denn: Der Mittelfeldspieler nimmt kein Blatt vor den Mund, übt Kritik auch gegenüber Mitspielern – immer direkt. Teilweise recht harsch. In einigen Mannschaftskreisen ist das mittlerweile zum Thema geworden: Die Wortwahl von Sabitzer sei nicht immer angemessen. Sabitzer selbst weiß, dass vielen Spielern das nicht passt. Er steht aber zu seinen Worten und ist der Meinung, es sei unerlässlich, einen kritischen Geist in der Kabine zu haben.

Sieben Spiele sind es noch in der Liga. Und mehr denn je gilt es für den BVB jetzt: zusammenreißen!
