Rafa Nadal ha visitado este martes la Escuela Universitaria UAX Rafa Nadal en el campus de Villanueva de la Cañada de la Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX), donde ha mantenido un encuentro exclusivo con los estudiantes del Grado en Ciencias de la Actividad Física y del Deporte (CAFYD) y los dobles grados con Fisioterapia y Nutrición Humana y Dietética. En su intervención, ha compartido reflexiones sobre su trayectoria profesional, los desafíos físicos y mentales que conlleva competir en la élite del deporte y la importancia de la formación para construir un futuro profesional sólido en el ámbito del deporte y la salud.

Durante el encuentro con estudiantes, Rafa Nadal ha repasado las cuestiones clave para la salud de un deportista de élite, desde aspectos psicológicos como la gestión de la presión en la alta competición hasta el cuidado de la forma física para prevenir lesiones, la importancia del descanso y la recuperación, o la adaptación del entrenamiento a lo largo de su carrera. Respecto a la preparación mental Nadal ha destacado que “se trabaja en el día a día. Lo que se ve en la pista es un reflejo de tu propia vida”. Para sobrellevar la presión y seguir luchando en un partido que iba perdiendo, Rafael Nadal ha puesto de manifiesto que “lo importante era no dejarme ir en el marcador y mantenerme cerca. Creo que he sido un jugador con una gran capacidad de autocontrol y también un tenista que no se ha frustrado dentro de la pista y cuando tienes esas capacidades es lo que te permite buscar soluciones”.

Además, ha compartido cómo ha vivido la evolución del deporte profesional desde el punto de vista de la preparación física, la nutrición y la tecnología aplicada. Para Rafa Nadal, “el mundo del deporte se ha profesionalizado en estos últimos 20 años. En sus tiempos yo viajaba con mi entrenador y nadie más. Sin embargo, en los últimos 10/15 años los jugadores viajan con un equipo de profesionales especializados más amplio. En mi caso solía compartir esos momentos con mi entrenador, mi fisioterapeuta, mi jefe de comunicación y en muchas ocasiones con mi representante. En el caso de otros jugadores incluían también otros profesionales como nutricionistas, preparadores físicos o psicológicos”.
En los últimos 20 años, el mundo del deporte se ha profesionalizado mucho
El acto se enmarca en el modelo educativo diferencial de la Escuela Universitaria UAX Rafa Nadal, que integra la formación teórica de excelencia con los profesionales líderes del sector, y todo ello apoyado con contenido práctico a través del cual los alumnos resuelven casos reales diseñados por el equipo de Rafa Nadal y por el claustro de la Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio. Un modelo centrado en la excelencia académica, la innovación educativa y el contacto directo con el entorno profesional, que prepara a los estudiantes para responder a las necesidades reales de la industria del deporte o la salud.
Mesa redonda
La jornada también ha contado con una mesa redonda en la que han participado tres expertos de referencia en el ámbito del deporte y la salud: el Dr. José López Chicharro, catedrático y director fundador de la Clínica OYTU; Domingo Rosselló, Head of Fitness & Health en la Rafa Nadal Academy; Joaquín Juan, antiguo alumno de UAX y fisioterapeuta de deportistas como Pau Gasol; y Juan Ramón Heredia, Director del Máster de Rendimiento Deportivo y Prevención de Lesiones de la Escuela Universitaria UAX Rafa Nadal. Todos ellos han coincidido en señalar la importancia de contar con un enfoque integral del rendimiento deportivo, que combine el conocimiento científico con la práctica aplicada.
Juan Ramón Heredia ha subrayado el valor de este tipo de encuentros para la formación de los estudiantes: “poder escuchar de primera mano las claves de un deportista como Rafa Nadal junto a profesionales claves en la preparación física como son el Dr. López Chicharro o Roselló, completa la excelencia de nuestra propuesta formativa con experiencias memorables e inspiradoras. Nuestro objetivo es formar profesionales preparados para liderar la industria deportiva, y para ello es fundamental exponerles a referentes del más alto nivel”.
Un fisioterepeuta debe acompañar al deportista y ser capaz de adaptar su estilo de vida para lograr el mejor rendimiento
López Chicharro, ha apuntado que para mantener un buen de rendimiento físico en el tiempo es necesario que “se entrenen adecuadamente cualidades básicas como la parte aeróbica, la fuerza muscular y la unión neuromuscular”, mientras que Roselló ha asegurado, en línea con las afirmaciones de Rafa Nadal, que la preparación mental día a día es fundamental y “eso es precisamente lo que trabajamos en la Rafa Nadal Academy con todos los jóvenes que forman parte de la escuela”. Desde el punto de vista de la fisioterapia, Joaquín Juan ha valorado que “las adaptaciones son fundamentales. Un fisioterapeuta debe acompañar al deportista y ser capaz de adaptar su forma o estilo de vida para lograr el mejor rendimiento y resultados”.
La Escuela Universitaria UAX Rafa Nadal representa una apuesta conjunta de UAX y de Rafa Nadal por llevar al máximo nivel y profesionalizar la educación universitaria en el ámbito del deporte y la salud.
