Notre Dame star guard Olivia Miles is entering the transfer portal and will forgo the 2025 WNBA Draft, a source with knowledge of Miles’ decision confirmed Monday.
Miles, who has one year of eligibility remaining after sitting out last season with a knee injury, was widely considered a lock for the No. 2 pick in the draft behind UConn’s Paige Bueckers. She is allowed to enter the draft because she is 22 and has played four years in college.
ESPN first reported the news of Miles’ decision.

In Notre Dame’s loss to TCU in the Sweet 16 on Saturday, Miles hinted she could return to college hoops next season. Miles can also decide to withdraw from the portal and return to Notre Dame.
“I am still thinking about what I want to do, but leaning towards the draft,” Miles said postgame. “But tomorrow, I might wake up and be like, ‘I want to come back.’ So, it just changes every day. I love college. I think I’ve outgrown it a little bit, though, so that makes my decision tougher to stay. It’s comfortable, a place where you have security.”

The senior averaged a career-best and team second-best 15.4 points this season, behind Hannah Hidalgo. Her 5.8 assists per game were a team-high.
In a survey of WNBA general managers who were granted anonymity to share their candid opinions about the upcoming draft class with The Athletic before the NCAA Tournament began, one GM called Miles, “The second safest pick after Paige (Bueckers).”
“Big fan, especially if the shooting can continue to be where it’s at,” another GM said. “I love the wiggle she has in her game. She’s got great feel, she’s got great change of pace. I love the combination of dribble, pass, shoot. I love her size at point guard. I think she can also probably play on and off the ball.”
Notre Dame was ranked No. 1 earlier this season and was considered a national title contender before a late-season skid and a Sweet 16 exit as a No. 3 seed against TCU.
The Irish expect to return standout point guard Hidalgo, who combined with Miles this season to make one of the nation’s most feared backcourts. Next season, the Irish will also be without Sonia Citron, a standout guard who is expected to be a first-round draft pick.
