Während viele Konkurrenten Schlüsselpositionen mit Profis aus Nordamerika besetzen, setzen die Bayern ausschließlich auf deutsche und europäische Nachwuchs-Spieler, darunter regelmäßig auch Talente aus der U19 (NBBL) und U16 (JBBL).
Das macht sich bezahlt: Beide Teams der höchsten deutschen Nachwuchs-Klassen spielen aktuell in der zweiten Play-off-Runde.

Wimberg verließ die Bayern im Sommer, um bei den Veolia Towers Hamburg eine Führungs-Rolle zu übernehmen. Sein Plan mit Leitershofen erinnert jedoch an die Bayern: Er will dort eine Plattform für junge deutsche Spieler schaffen, die sich auf eine Profi- oder College-Karriere vorbereiten wollen.
