O ultramaratonista brasileiro Alexandre Sartorato, de 52 anos, iniciou nesta segunda-feira sua segunda volta ao mundo. Partiu das Pirâmides de Giza, no Egito, e atravessará a pé cerca de 30 países nos cinco continentes. Ele pretende correr uma média de duas a três maratonas por dia, encarando temperaturas que variam de 50ºC a -20ºC, e totalizando entre 13 mil e 17 mil quilômetros, dependendo do trajeto. A ideia é terminar em seis meses, voltando ao ponto inicial, no Egito.

Sartorato explica que estudou cerca de 50 países porque na primeira experiência, em 2007, enfrentou imprevistos no caminho e teve de mudar a rota.

— Sei da importância de ter mais de um trajeto — diz ele, que tem como projeto inicial correr um pouco mais de 15 mil quilômetros por estradas.

Para enfrentar tamanho desafio, treinou especificamente desde 2020. Disse que, somando treinos diários em dois períodos e treinos simulados, percorreu aproximadamente 90 mil quilômetros. Além disso fez treinos de isometria e musculação.

Durante a preparação, Sartorato levantou diferentes bandeiras. Correu de Cananéia (SP) a Paraty (RJ) em apoio ao Natal Solidário, atravessou o litoral de Santa Catarina por mais de uma vez em apoio aos Médicos Sem Fronteiras, e correu 850 km em uma semana na esteira em favor das Aldeias Infantis SOS.

— A bandeira desta vez será o combate à fome, à miséria, ao racismo e outras mazelas sociais. Não podemos continuar vivendo assim. Todos nós precisamos fazer uma reflexão sobre isso. Todos nós somos irmãos de uma grande família chamada mundo — comenta Sartorato, que atravessa no primeiro trecho uma pequena distância até a metrópole litorânea Alexandria, no Mar Mediterrâneo. — Pretendo atravessar o Mar Mediterrâneo de Alexandria para Atenas durante a madrugada, para não atrasar a corrida.

Do extremo Nordeste do continente africano, o desafio continua na Europa, onde terá sequência na Grécia e mais 19 países, encerrando esta etapa no Reino Unido.

De lá, viajará de avião à América do Sul, onde atravessará Brasil, Uruguai, Argentina e Chile. Novamente por via aérea, atravessará o Pacífico, passando na Ásia por Japão, Emirados Árabes, Arábia Saudita, Jordânia e Israel, e na Oceania por Nova Zelândia e Austrália.

— Os deslocamentos sobre os oceanos faço de avião. Chego e saio dos aeroportos correndo ou andando, de acordo com autorização e regras locais.

Sartorato explica que montou alguns pontos de apoio logístico durante o trajeto para diminuir a quantidade de bagagem. Nesses lugares, tem o mínimo necessário para percorrer entre 2 mil e 4 mil quilômetros. São kits contendo pares de tênis, camisetas, pomadas, carboidratos em gel.

Além disso, tem apoio em tempo integral de um médico e de uma equipe de cinema que produzirá um filme. Eles viajam de carro e levam parte do material que ele usará entre os trechos mapeados, incluindo uma estrutura de emergência para cozinhar se preciso. O médico tem ainda itens como balança de bioimpedância, sensor de glicemia, esfigmomanômetro, estetoscópio, coletor de urina, entre outros.

Sartorato conta ainda que na bagagem inicial leva 10 pares de tênis (de um total de 50), 10 meias (de um total de 50), 50 camisetas (de um total de 250), 50 caixas de carboidratos em gel (de um total de 250 caixas), e pomadas. Explica que água, refrigerante preto, macarrão, pão e outros alimentos precisam ser comprados diariamente.

— Precisaríamos de alguns caminhões para transportar tudo que consumo. Seria impossível carregar tudo ao longo da corrida — explica ele, que detalha sua rotina: — Tomo o café da manhã, faço a rotina médica, alongo e começo a correr. Ingiro um carboidrato gel com água a cada 40 minutos e como algo sólido com refrigerante preto a cada 1h20min. Além disso, bebo água de 20 em 20 minutos. Tenho que me adaptar a comer o que o pessoal da equipe encontra para comprar.

Sartorato comenta que passa o dia todo se alimentando e se hidratando, correndo ou caminhando dependendo do tipo de comida ingerida. Ao terminar o dia, faz uma refeição mais pesada. Ele só para no café da manhã (antes de começar o dia) e no jantar (quando termina a jornada diária), quando, enfim, se permite ficar sentado.

— Não há tempo para regenerar. Fazemos massagem, alongamento e liberação miofascial, mas não há tempo suficiente para recuperação muscular. Em um algum momento, vou começar a entrar num estado semelhante a overtraining. Esse é um dos temas que abordaremos em estudo médico — revela ele. — Na primeira volta ao mundo, a minha frequência cardíaca mínima iniciou perto de 30bpm e terminou acima de 70.

Na primeira volta ao mundo, partindo do Cristo Redentor, ele percorreu aproximadamente 100 km por dia, utilizou 42 pares de tênis, consumiu mais de 2 mil litros de água, cerca de 600 litros de refrigerantes e mais de 100 quilos de macarrão. Apoiou a candidatura do monumento como uma das 7 Maravilhas do Mundo Moderno e divulgou o trabalho das Aldeias Infantis SOS.
