The stimulus payment as a result of Alaska’s oil and energy revenues was instituted in 1976 through the Alaska Permanent Fund (PFD), whose purpose is to distribute the resources it manages for the benefit of eligible people residing in its territory.
It goes without saying that this income is a very important part of the resources that Alaskan families have in mind for their subsistence and is established as a must for the needy, as it also boosts the economy and plays a fundamental role in the state’s economy

From 2024 to date, the PFD saw a substantial increase which in 2025 will be $1,702, 30% more compared to the previous year. This amount is made up of two payments, one for energy assistance of $298.17 and the other as part of the Permanent Fund dividend for $1,403.83.
Eligibility and requirements
Anyone seeking a stimulus check for PFD must have resided in the state for a full year prior to their application date, have spent at least 72 hours in Alaska during the past two years, not have been incarcerated for felonies in one year, or for a misdemeanor if they have been convicted of more than two offenses since January 1, 1997.
PFD payments in April
The deadline to apply for this important assistance was March 31, 2024, on the PFD’s online portal at pfd.alaska.gov, or by conventional mail, for 2024 dividend applications (and prior years) that were in “Eligible-Not Paid” status as of April 9, 2025. If you are one of those who submitted your application on time, you can expect the assistance on April 17, 2025.
