The 2025 Valero Texas Open is a significant event for golfers not currently invited to the Masters. Major champion Gary Woodland is among the golfers in the 2025 Valero Texas Open field who need a win to punch their ticket to Augusta National next week. The 40-year-old needs a victory at TPC San Antonio to keep his major streak alive. The 2019 US Open champion has played every major since the 2016 Open at Royal Troon.

According to the latest 2025 Valero Texas Open odds, Woodland is a 55-1 longshot to finish on top of the leaderboard. Woodland secured a T-2 finish at last week’s Houston Open, but should he be included in your 2025 Valero Texas Open bets? Ludvig Aberg enters this week’s event as the 12-1 favorite, followed by Tommy Fleetwood (14-1), Corey Conners (18-1), Patrick Cantlay (20-1), Hidkei Matsuyama (20-1) and Jordan Spieth (22-1) on the PGA odds board. Before locking in your 2025 Valero Texas Open picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 13 majors entering the weekend, including the 2024 Masters- its third Masters in a row – and last year’s PGA Championship and U.S. Open. Anyone who has followed its sports betting picks could have seen massive returns on betting apps like FanDuelDraftKings and Fanatics

Now that the 2025 Valero Texas Open field is locked in, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

2025 Valero Texas Open predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2025 Valero Texas Open: Ludvig Aberg, a PGA Tour champion and this week’s favorite, stumbles and barely cracks the top five. Aberg is off to a strong start in 2025, securing a victory at the Genesis Invitational and a T-5 showing at The Sentry. However, Aberg has finished T-22 or worse in his last two starts, which includes a missed cut at The Players Championship.

The 25-year-old has struggled with accuracy this season, ranking 99th in strokes gained: approach to green (-0.033) and 130th in driving accuracy (54.81%), which doesn’t bode well at a course like TPC San Antonio. Aberg has also been inconsistent with a putter in his hands, ranking 98th in strokes gained: putting (-0.002) and 161st in total putting (261.8). He’s not a strong pick to win it all, and there are far better values in the 2025 Valero Texas Open field. See who else to fade here

Another surprise: Daniel Berger, a 40-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

Berger certainly has the game to finish near the top of the leaderboard this week. The 31-year-old is a seasoned veteran on the PGA Tour, having racked up four career victories. He’s also been trending in the right direction in recent weeks, finishing T-20 or better in four of his last five starts, which includes a T-2 showing at the WM Phoenix Open. Berger enters this week’s event ranked fifth in total driving (80), 10th in driving accuracy (67.35%) and 12th in strokes gained: total (1.334), making him a strong value pick for your 2025 Valero Texas Open bets. See who else to pick here

How to make 2025 Valero Texas Open picks

The model is also targeting two other golfers with odds of 30-1 or longer who will make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model’s picks here.

Alejandro Kirk comes through for Blue Jays: ‘I needed it, the team needed it’

Editor’s note: We’re thrilled to introduce Mitch Bannon as our Blue Jays beat writer. A native of Toronto, he previously covered the team for SI.com. This is his first story for The Athletic.NEW YORK — Opportunity hasn’t been Alejandro Kirk’s problem. The Blue Jays’ catcher has walked to the plate 27 times this season with a runner in scoring position, constantly a swing away from igniting an offense that badly needs a spark.AdvertisementTaking advantage of those chances has been the hard part. A month after signing a five-year, $58 million extension, Kirk entered Friday with just five RBI in the exact situations built for cashing in runs, with a man on second or third. He’d hit just .217 with runners in scoring position this year with a .544 OPS. On Friday, opportunity finally met execution. With a ninth-inning swing, Kirk came […]

2025 NFL Draft picks by college team, school: SEC, Big Ten separate from pack as Ohio State leads the way

Getty Images The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft was dominated by power conference schools, as the SEC and Big Ten were ubiquitous during Thursday night's action with 26 of the first 32 picks coming from the two most powerful conferences in the sport. That trend continued on Friday night during Day 2, as 21 more players from the SEC and Big Ten heard their names called in the 32 second-round picks. While not a surprise, it's a reminder of the direction college football is trending, as the transfer portal and the opportunity to cash in on NIL deals has made it far less likely that an NFL talent will make it through their junior year at a smaller program. In total, 66 of the 102 players selected in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft finished their collegiate careers […]

NFL Draft 2025: Here’s how much money Shedeur Sanders missed out on by not being drafted in first three rounds

Getty Images The story of the 2025 NFL Draft has to do with a player who hasn't even heard his name called yet. Former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, was expected to be a first-round pick, but instead went unselected in the first three rounds of the draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers passed on him multiple times, while the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns all selected different quarterbacks. Every player will be given the opportunity to compete whether they are a first-round pick or seventh-round pick, but their paychecks will be very different. For example, No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward is expected to sign a deal projected to be worth $48,757,500, according to Spotrac, while Tyler Shough, who was drafted 40th […]

2025 NFL Draft grades for Round 3: Seahawks earn ‘A+’ for Jalen Milroe pick, Browns get ‘C’ for Dillon Gabriel

Getty Images Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft concluded on Friday night with Colorado's Shedeur Sanders still not selected. It was slightly surprising to see Sanders not drafted on Thursday as just two quarterbacks (Ward and Jaxson Dart) were taken in the first round. However, Day 2 brought three more quarterbacks selected: Louisville's Tyler Shough went to the Saints at No. 40 in Round 2, Alabama's Jalen Milroe was selected by the Seahawks with the 92nd pick (Round 3), and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel was taken by the Browns with the 94th pick (Round 3).Want to know what I thought of every pick made in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft? Luke Keaschall injury: Twins’ hot-hitting rookie suffers broken forearm

Matt Krohn Minnesota Twins promising rookie infielder/outfielder Luke Keaschall suffered a nondisplaced fracture in his right forearm on Friday, the club told reporters following the Twins' 11-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Keaschall suffered the injury when he was struck by a pitch from Kyle Hendricks in the first inning. Keaschall, in the lineup at DH, was able to run the bases after being hit on the arm, but he was pinch-hit for when his spot came up again in the bottom of the third. According to Twins dugout reporter Audra Martin, the club does not have a timetable for Keaschall's return. That the fracture is nondisplaced is a positive, but it still figures to be a lengthy absence for the 22-year-old. According to the Baseball Prospectus injury database, recovery time for forearm fractures tends to range from a bit […]
