Hosté z Pardubic si za poslední měsíc užili pořádného „volna“. Byli v tréninkovém zápřahu, ale od konce základní části (4. března) odehráli jen čtyři zápasy. Ten poslední před týdnem a půl. České Budějovice totiž ve čtvrtfinále vyřadili v nejkratší možné době. „Člověk se celý rok těší na play off, pak to přijde a my koukáme v televizi na ostatní,“ postěžoval si pardubický útočník Jan Mandát.
Série Hradce Králové s Pardubicemi ozdobila extraligu už v loňské sezoně. To se oba rivalové střetli o jedno kolo dříve ve čtvrtfinále. Dynamo sice vyhrálo na první pohled hladce 4:1 na zápasy, ale všechny duely skončily rozdílem jediné branky. Výhra nad rivalem vždy potěší, v Pardubicích ale i díky loňské zkušenosti zůstávají ostražití.

„Hradec je nepříjemný soupeř, hodně bruslí. Poctivě dodržuje systém a hrají dobrý fyzický hokej. Určitě nás nečeká nic jednoduchého. Loni ta série klidně mohla dopadnout 4:1 pro ně. Letos očekávám podobný průběh,“ doplnil 29letý útočník Dynama.
Vzájemné zápasy v základní části vyzněly poměrně jednoznačně pro Mountfield. Královéhradecké mužstvo vyhrálo tři ze čtyř duelů. Na druhou stranu při jediné porážce dostali pořádně za uši (1:7).
„Emoce budou hodně vyšperkované, asi se budu muset trochu krotit. Ale je skvělé, že v našem regionu hokej takhle žije a máme vedle sebe rivala, se kterým se popereme o finále,“ těší před startem série Mandáta.
Tomu se ve vyřazovací fázi náramně daří. Zatímco v základní části pravidelný sběr bodů rozhodně nebyl jeho doménou, v play off své výkony povýšil společně s parťáky za čtvrtého útoku na další úroveň. Ve čtyřech zápasech proti Motoru zaznamenal dva góly a jednu asistenci. I loni patřil ke stěžejním hráčům tehdy ještě Zadinova výběru, a to s osmi body v 16 utkáních.
„Ale nevím, čím to je. Snažím se hrát celou sezonu stejně, ale během play off se najednou víc dostávám do šancí. Vážně netuším,“ pousmál se Mandát. Dvacet kilometrů je nejkratší vzdálenost, která dělí dva extraligové kluby. Východní Čechy se mají v semifinále nač těšit.
