El Gran Canaria hace la machada en Turquía y se mete en la final de la Eurocup

El Dreamland Gran Canaria apeló a la épica para superar en Turquía al Bahcesehir College Istanbul (72-76) en el tercer partido de la serie de semifinales de la Eurocopa de clubes de baloncesto (1-2), que le permite clasificarse para la gran final continental.

El norteamericano Caleb Homesley, con 19 puntos, 4 asistencias y 2 rebotes, fue el gran artífice del triunfo claretiano, desactivando los 22 puntos y 4 asistencias del base del conjunto local, Jaleen Smith.

Pese al ambiente adverso, los amarillos tutearon a su rival otomano para, entre Tobey y Shurna, tomar la iniciativa en el inicio del primer cuarto (6-8).

Los turcos reaccionaron con la polivalencia de Cavanaugh y el poderío físico de Odiase, pero el tiro desde el perímetro de Brussino y el propio Shurna compensó con el paso de los minutos, mientras Conditt ponía cemento en la trinchera isleña (18-19).

La defensa se endureció en ambos lados de la cancha a partir del segundo cuarto, si bien el Granca aprovechó la falta de acierto del Bahcesehir desde la línea de triples (0/8) para sacar provecho y forzar el primer tiempo muerto del técnico local, Dejan Radonjic (21-25 a seis minutos para el descanso).

La segunda unidad amarilla no bajó un ápice en el ritmo anotador, tomando el testigo Salvó y Conditt mientras se sumaban los titulares con las nuevas rotaciones (24-33). No obstante, los de Estambul mejoraron con el paso de los minutos, lanzando un arreón fulgurante que le permitió dar la vuelta la choque a los pocos segundos de enfilar el túnel de vestuarios (42-41).

En la reanudación, Odiase siguió erosionando la pintura insular, poniendo por momentos en vanguardia a los suyos en el particular intercambio de golpes que se inició en el tercer cuarto (51-50).

Sin embargo, fue el momento para Homesley, tal y como ocurrió en los dos partidos anteriores de la serie, el cual enganchó varias canastas de mérito para superar a un conjunto otomano que empezaba a tener dudas (54-60).

Pelos y Brussino se hacían notar en un desenlace de infarto, en el que continuó el Gran Canaria tomando la iniciativa con una excelente defensa y un mejor tiro exterior (68-70).

El panorama cambió diametralmente con el posterior triple de Jaleen Smith, afilando de manera sustancial el choque en cada posesión (71-70). Homesley conseguía arañar una falta extra de Cavanaugh y un lanzamiento exterior desde la esquina para darle la vuelta al marcador (71-73).

El Bahcesehir forzó dos tiros libres a 21 segundos para la conclusión, pero Hazer solo pudo anotar uno de los dos lanzamientos desde la línea de personales.

Tocaba nuevos arabescos en la pizarra de Lakovic en el tiempo muerto posterior. Tras la pausa táctica, Albicy repitió patrón anotando uno de sus dos tiros desde el 4,60 y de nuevo hubo paréntesis técnico. Todo dependía de la última posesión turca que, sin embargo, terminó en vano, con una penetración de Jaleen Smith que acabó errando.

Al final, Homesley remató desde la línea de castigo un triunfo épico (72-76) que permite a los grancanarios disputar su tercera final europea.
