Ellen Pompeo recently shared a heartwarming story about Taylor Swift’s generosity.
The Grey’s Anatomy star revealed that the singer made a substantial donation to a children’s hospital program at her request.

Taylor Swift drops “big old check”
The actress recounted the moment during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where she reflected on her brief but meaningful collaboration with Swift.
Pompeo, who appeared in Swift’s 2015 Bad Blood music video alongside a star-studded cast, was initially surprised by how quick and easy the filming process was.
While she thought her cameo was just a fun experience, she later discovered Swift’s profound generosity when she asked the singer to contribute to a cause close to her heart.
“At the time, [my husband] Chris [Ivery] and I, we do a lot of volunteering for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles,”Pompeo explained.
She highlighted a unique initiative at the hospital that allows parents to record their voices singing lullabies or telling stories for babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
“The babies respond to it, and it makes their outcomes more positive,” she added.
Wanting to support the program, Pompeo decided to make a bold request.
“I asked Taylor, ‘Could you write me a big old check for Children’s?’ and she knew me all but 20 minutes, and that girl wrote me the biggest check without blinking an eye.”
Swift’s quiet act of kindness is just one example of her long-standing commitment to philanthropy.
The 14-time Grammy winner has made numerous charitable contributions over the years, including large donations to food banks during her Eras Tour in the UK and financial aid for organizations assisting those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
Pompeo, who had no prior relationship with Swift before working on Bad Blood, now sees the singer in a different light beyond her music.
While the actress has been busy promoting her new Hulu drama Good American Family, she took a moment to acknowledge the generosity and compassion Swift has shown, not just to her, but to so many in need.
Swift, a longtime Grey’s Anatomy fan, even named one of her beloved cats after Pompeo’s iconic character, Meredith Grey.
Though rumors once swirled about the singer making a guest appearance on the medical drama, Pompeo playfully admitted at the time, “I think she’s pretty busy, but that would be fun … I would love it.”
