I první gól ze třinácté minuty byl dlouho připsaný Kuprijanovovi, nakonec ale připadl čtyřiadvacetiletému Lotyšovi Patriksovi Ozolsovi, jenž překvapil zlínského gólmana Daniela Hufa střelou z úhlu.
„Oba mladíci (Burkov a Kuprijanov) jsou nebezpeční nejen celé play off, ale od doby, co jsme je vytáhli z juniorky do áčka. Hlavně hokej chápou, vidí situace a čtou je,“ lebedil si asistent jihlavského trenéra Karel Nekvasil.
Burkov řádil v A týmu už v základní části poté, co se k týmu připojil na konci ledna, v play off svou produktivitu ještě zvedl.
„Je technicky skvělý, na hokejce zpracuje skoro každý puk. Biologicky je trošku ještě zaostalejší, to je pro něj jedině dobře, protože má kam růst. Je to super talent a nebudu vyhlašovat, že bude hrát tu nebo tu soutěž, ale má předpoklady hrát velký hokej,“ zhodnotil Nekvasil.
Ve středu na sebe upozornil i Ukrajinec Kuprijanov s přezdívkou Larry, který zaznamenal svůj první gól v play off.
„Ten je silovější. Kdyby zrychlil, tak bude ještě lepší. Jsou to nicméně mladí kluci, kteří to mají před sebou,“ poznamenal Nekvasil.
Právě na tuto dvojici si ve Zlíně hodlají posvítit. „Jsou to šikovní kluci, mladí a nemají tolik kil, musíme je víc dohrávat a nedávat jim tolik prostoru v našem pásmu a před bránou, tam musíme být zodpovědnější a důraznější. V play off se to nesmí stát,“ žehral trenér Zlína Ján Pardavý.
Ten byl po utkání viditelně rozladěný z přístupu týmu především v první části. „Celý zápas rozhodla první třetina, kdy jsme byli laxní, jak bychom si mysleli, že když to není Vsetín ve finále, tak je porazíme. Přístup a nastavení nebyl takový, jaký jsme si představovali. Přitom v některých věcech je Jihlava nejlepší tým ligy,“ upozornil Pardavý.
Ve druhé části jeho svěřenci šlápli do pedálu, ale dobře bránící Duklu dokázali zaskočit jen jednou, když se dostal do úniku Zdeněk Okál a snížil na 1:2.
„Musíme se v mnoha věcech zlepšit, vrátit se k tomu play off nastavení, které jsme měli poslední tři zápasy. Potom, kdybychom prohráli, neřeknu nic, ale ne s takovýmto výkonem,“ dodal Pardavý.
Šanci na reparát dostanou jeho svěřenci ve čtvrtek, kdy je od půl šesté večer znovu ve Zlíně na programu další zápas. A pokud domácí opět prohrají, už může být zle…
