The saga betweenMicah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys continues and seems to have no end, although it is known that it will not end in favor of the coffers of the Lone Star team, who after letting Demarcus Lawrence go to the Seattle Seahawks, especially without having signed a contract extension to the defensive player from Penn State, will surely regret it.
Who is in charge?
The problem for Dallas is an option that seems far away, but it’s there, nagging like a small stone in the shoe, and that is that if Parsons were to decide on a trade it would be really a cataclysm for the franchise, which today suffers with its salary cap.
The club contract option guarantees Parsons around $24 million, however, given the conditions of a market in which Myles Garrett already earns $40 million with the Cleveland Browns, being four years older than him, he is forced to ask for more, and with good reason, with the numbers he offers in the four seasons he has been with the Cowboys and which speak for themselves: 52.5 sacks, 63 tackles for loss and nine forced fumbles.
Griffin’s advice that the Cowboys didn’t like
In the midst of all this controversy, there are many voices speaking out on the subject, and one of them, that of former QB and now podcaster Robert Griffin III, offers an unpopular solution to Parsons: “If Micah Parsons wants to win and get paid, he should demand a trade to the Dallas Cowboys“
It’s obvious that for Jerry Jones and company, Parsons is a valuable asset, and it’s obvious that they don’t intend to make the huge mistake of letting him go, but it’s also true that Micah Parsons has the upper hand after the departure of DeMarcus Lawrence, and especially because his club option limits the franchise’s finances, so Dallas has some cards to play. That’s why Griffin’s ‘advice’ has not gone down well, either with the team or with the fans, who do not want to see another mistake like Lawrence’s.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys are preparing for a new season in which they do not want to start on the wrong foot, and negotiations with Parsons are key to ensuring that this does not happen.
