Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has sparked a buzz at the NFL’s annual league meetings in Palm Beach, Florida – and not just because of his usual football insight. This time, it’s Reid’s noticeably slimmer frame that has people talking.
The 66-year-old coaching legend appeared leaner and healthier as he joined fellow head coaches, team owners, and executives to discuss league business and rule updates.
Though known more for his offensive playbook than his gym routine, Reid‘s apparent offseason commitment to fitness is drawing attention as the Chiefs prepare for another run at NFL glory in 2025.
NFL meetings bring rule changes and a new-look Reid
At the league’s annual spring summit, several important rule changes were passed. Among them: guaranteeing both teams a possession in overtime during regular-season games (a rule previously only applied to postseason), moving touchbacks up to the 35-yard line, expanding replay assist to include calls like facemask and hits on defenseless players, and introducing Sony’s Hawk-Eye system to more accurately measure first downs.
But as important as those updates may be, Reid‘s weight loss might have stolen the spotlight. The longtime coach, often affectionately nicknamed “Big Red,” looked noticeably trimmer while mingling with other league personnel.
His new appearance led fans to speculate that Reid may be turning up the intensity ahead of the Chiefs‘ 2025 campaign.
The transformation seems to echo a wider trend across the team. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, often mocked by critics for his so-called “dad bod,” has also been showing off a noticeably more defined physique in recent weeks.
After the disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59, it’s clear the entire Kansas City squad – from the coaching staff to its star players – is using the setback as motivation.
