As country music icon Reba McEntire celebrated her 70th birthday in March, she found herself reflecting deeply on what comes next-and according to reports, it’s a crossroads laced with tension between personal happiness and professional ambition.
Sources close to McEntire reveal that the Queen of Country is feeling the weight of time in unexpected ways. While she remains driven by her music career and has no plans to slow down, her long-term partner, actor Rex Linn, is growing increasingly frustrated with her reluctance to settle down into married life.
A relationship caught between romance and reality
McEntire and Linn have been together for years and currently star in NBC’s new sitcom Happy’s Place. Despite their easy chemistry onscreen, sources say things are less smooth behind closed doors-especially when the future of their relationship comes up.
“Rex is a hopeless romantic and has poured his heart out to Reba about his vision for their future,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “He imagines a life where they both step away from the spotlight, get married, and enjoy their good fortune in peace.”
However, McEntire doesn’t quite share the same vision. When asked recently about the possibility of tying the knot with Linn, the I’m a Survivor singer gave a notably cool response: “I’m fine with the way we are.”
That noncommittal tone appears to be a source of heartache for Linn, who, according to insiders, is “at the end of his tether” with her ongoing hesitation.
“Reba tells Rex they are at an age where getting hitched seems silly, especially since she still has so much she wants to accomplish in her career,” the source continued. “It’s a major point of contention.”
