Vasco não resiste a 64 cruzamentos do Melgar e recebe boas-vindas amargas aos desafios continentais; leia análise

De volta a uma competição sul-americana depois de cinco anos, o Vasco entendeu as dificuldades que vai enfrentar daqui para frente de uma das piores maneiras. Em visita ao Melgar, na altitude de Arequipa, no Peru, o cruz-maltino vencia por 3 a 1, mas cedeu à intensa sucessão de cruzamentos do time da casa, que arrancou o empate em 3 a 3 em um espaço de dez minutos, já no fim.

A 2.300 metros acima do nível do mar no Estadio de la UNSA, Coutinho fez grande jogo e abriu o placar com golaço. Mas lamentou o empate sofrido pelo Vasco e apontou as dificuldades com a altitude:

“Estava difícil mesmo de sair (na transição), até por causa do ar também. Mas a gente se esforçou bastante. Acabamos atraindo um pouco eles para o nosso campo e conseguiram alçar muitas bola dentro da nossa área. É um ponto que fica com sabor de derrota, porque a gente vinha ganhando e parecia estar controlado, mas é o início de tudo, temos que manter a cabeça no lugar e seguir para fazer um bom trabalho”.

Antes mesmo de sequer se acostumar com as velocidades do jogo e da bola, o Vasco deu boa largada à partida na genialidade de Coutinho. No seu melhor estilo, o camisa 11 recebeu de Piton pela esquerda da entrada da área e bateu colocado, no ângulo do goleiro Cáceda, que não teve qualquer chance.

O Melgar se soltou e explorou uma das dificuldades do Vasco neste início de temporada: a marcação pelos corredores, principalmente na esquerda. Com triangulações comandadas pelo bom camisa 10 Tomás Martínez, o atual líder do Torneio Apertura do Campeonato Peruano rodava a bola do meio às pontas até encontrar espaço para os cruzamentos e finalizações.

Foi com essa pressão que os donos da casa chegaram a um pênalti, em jogada em que Paulo Henrique ficou sozinho na marcação e derrubou Cabanillas. Ironicamente, Martínez desperdiçou.

Arma única

Melhor para o Vasco, com Coutinho, que em novo momento de brilho lançou de trivela para Vegetti fazer 2 a 0. Ainda antes do intervalo, o Melgar mostrou o que seria sua proposta até o fim: diminuiu em bola aérea com Gregorio Rodríguez. A partir dali, apostaria inteiramente nesta arma.

O time de Walter Ribonetto emendou uma sucessão quase ininterrupta de cruzamentos para a área. Que só aumentou quando o cruz-maltino fez 3 a 1 com Vegetti, em ótimo passe de Nuno Moreira. Mais recuado e com placar favorável, o time de Fábio Carille passou tentar repelir a bola aérea dos donos da casa. Mas perdeu posse e poder de transição pelo meio, entre desgaste e mexidas do treinador que não funcionaram.

Foram 64 cruzamentos do Melgar, que bateu até furar a defesa do Vasco. Primeiro, com Facundo Castro, em lance em que o time cruz-maltino reclamou de falta em Mauricio Lemos. O empate, já aos 44 do segundo tempo, veio com Cabrera, que subiu nas costas de Piton. Minutos depois de Carille ter tentado reforçar a defesa com a entrada de Lucas Oliveira no lugar de Vegetti.

O empate amargo deixou as equipes com um ponto cada no Grupo G. Hoje, às 19h, Puerto Cabello-VEN e Lanús-ARG complementam a rodada. O próximo compromisso do Vasco na Sul-Americana é contra o Puerto Cabello, em São Januário, na próxima terça-feira. Antes, visita o Corinthians pelo Brasileirão.
