- Timão quer primeira vitória
A estreia do América de Cali foi com vitória sobre o Racing-URU fora de casa. Agora, fará como mandante seu primeiro jogo nesta temporada na Copa Sul-Americana e que disparar na liderança para ficar mais perto da vaga para a sequência da competição, sendo derrotado pelo Once Caldas na última rodada do Campeonato Colombiano.
Treinado por Jorge da Silva, Los Diablos tem um velho conhecido dos corintianos, Quintero, carrasco do time na última edição da competição pelo Racing-ARG. Com praticamente todo o elenco à disposição, Graterol é o único ausente, este se recuperando de lesões.
Em plena Neo Química Arena, o Corinthians caiu para o Huracán em sua estreia na Sul-Americana. Agora, o Timão buscará fora de casa tentar se reabilitar e não ficar distante da briga pela classificação. E terá como ‘ajuda’ o fato de ter vencido neste final de semana o Vasco, pelo Brasileirão.
O técnico Ramón Díaz poderá ter que lidar com uma série de problemas para escalar a equipe. Fora deste jogo estão Garro, Hugo Souza, Rayan e Angileri, este mais recente. Além disto, há também o risco de Memphis Depay e Gustavo Henrique também não jogarem contra o América de Cali, causando mais possibilidade de mudanças na formação titular

O recurso tentava levar a discussão ao Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), sob a alegação de ofensa a preceitos constitucionais, o que foi rejeitado.
