Blake Lively and Taylor Swift are back on speaking terms after a brief but highly publicized falling out that threatened to end one of Hollywood’s most admired friendships.
The duo reportedly hit a rough patch in February when Taylor, 35, was unexpectedly dragged into the legal battle between Blake and her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, the pop star quietly distanced herself from the 37-year-old actress amid the controversy, including skipping high-profile events like the SNL 50th anniversary special to avoid crossing paths with Lively – and Kim Kardashian.
However, the icy silence appears to have thawed. A source told NewsNation: “They have worked everything out. Blake apologized and they are talking again.”
Taylor pulled into Blake’s legal storm
The root of the drama stemmed from court documents filed by Baldoni, who accused Lively of using her close friendship with Swift to intimidate him during a script dispute.
According to Baldoni, Swift showed up to a rooftop meeting between him and Ryan Reynolds – an encounter Blake had orchestrated – and her mere presence made him feel pressured to agree to Blake‘s changes.
The lawsuit alleged Blake referred to Taylor and Ryan as her “dragons,” a reference to the vengeful Game of Thrones character Khaleesi.
Swift, blindsided by the situation, reportedly never intended to attend the meeting but walked in while it was still ongoing.
A source close to the singer described the entire episode as “uncool and unnecessary,” saying Taylor was shocked to be name-dropped in a legal filing that implied she played a role in escalating tensions.
The singer’s decision to “take a step back” was reportedly not personal but strategic. “She has a new album in the works and is shocked by how much drama she was pulled into,” a source told DailyMail.com. “She won’t let external factors hurt her career.”
Fans spotted the rift before confirmation
Speculation around the friendship began when Lively skipped the Super Bowl, despite being a regular in Swift‘s game-day entourage. Instead, the singer was flanked by Ice Spice and the Haim sisters.
The absence raised eyebrows – and even more so when Swift failed to publicly support Lively amid the Justin Baldoni fallout.
Despite the tension, the two women have a long, genuine history. Swift has famously included Blake and Ryan‘s children in her lyrics and has often referred to Blake as one of her closest confidantes.
The pair were last seen together publicly during a Manhattan double date in October with Reynolds and Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Now, with an apology exchanged and their friendship seemingly restored, fans can breathe a sigh of relief. A source summed it up best: “They’ve worked everything out.”
