The singer and songwriter Elton John has recently revealed that he suffers from an eye infection that has caused him vision problems, which has considerably altered his daily life. At 78 years of age, the artist confessed that his limited vision has affected his ability to enjoy some of his favorite activities, such as watching his children play rugby and soccer
In an interview with Times, Elton John expressed his frustration at not being able to fully enjoy moments with his children, Zachary and Elijah, due to his deteriorating eyesight. “I can’t watch television, I can’t read. I can’t see my children playing rugby and football,” he said. Despite the difficulties, the musician was grateful for his life and family, and acknowledged that although emotionally affected by the loss of some of his sight, he tries to stay positive. “I carry on,” said the “I’m Still Standing” singer, acknowledging that his situation could be much worse: “You have to get used to it, because I’m lucky to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family and I can still see something with my left eye.”

Elton also shared details about his recent return to music, with the release of his collaborative album Who Believes In Angels with Brandi Carlile. Despite the physical and emotional difficulties, John highlighted how important this project was for him, commenting that the creative process was not easy due to his anxiety and self-doubt. At the 2025 Golden Globes, the singer joked about his vision, reassuring his audience with humor while presenting the event alongside his friend Carlile: “It’s a very special night for me to be here because, I don’t know if you know, there have been rumors about my regressive vision,” John said. “I just want to reassure you: it’s not as bad as it seems. I’m very happy to be here with my co-host, Rihanna,” he said as he pointed to Carlile.
