Micah Parsons suffers heartbreak because of Duke and fans take advantage to mock the Cowboys

Micah Parsons, linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, recently shared his emotional response to Duke’s shocking loss in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The Blue Devils were in the Final Four, leading against Houston until a late-game surge from the Cougars turned the tide. Parsons, a staunch Duke supporter, posted his disbelief and disappointment on social media, stating, “I ain’t been this sad in a long time bruh wtf!!”

Despite his support for the Blue Devils, the reaction from fans quickly veered away from college basketball and into familiar territory: the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys had a disappointing NFL campaign last season, and some fans used Parsons’ heartbreak over Duke’s loss to remind him of his own team’s struggles. One user cheekily tweeted a comparison, noting that Duke’s choke job seemed “almost as inevitable as the Cowboys’ playoff performance every year.”

The internet takes aim at Parsons and Cowboys

It didn’t take long for Twitter users to pivot from discussing Parsons’ favorite team in college basketball to poking fun at the Cowboys’ playoff history.

Fans took to the platform to share memes, with some predicting another Cowboys playoff letdown in the upcoming season. The sharp jabs didn’t spare anyone, even comparing Parsons’ dismay over Duke’s loss to the Cowboys’ annual playoff disappointment.

“Duke choke job almost feels as inevitable as the Cowboys one every year,” wrote one fan.

Another wrote: “Wait till around week 8 of the NFL season, and playoffs already off the table.”

One fan added: “Slay got you, other teams are cooking you, even some Cowboys fans are frying you, looks like everyone’s joining in on the fun. Crazy spread of L’s for the podcast boy.”

Another fan wrote: “Brother, y’all almost let up 50 at home in the playoffs against a 7-seed barely over a year ago.”

While Parsons was simply venting his frustration about Duke’s collapse, it’s clear that fans see every opportunity to take shots at the Cowboys. Despite his stellar performance as a defensive star for the Cowboys, Parsons couldn’t escape the lingering specter of Dallas’ postseason struggles.

As the internet continues to make light of his emotional response, the juxtaposition of Parsons’ sadness over a college basketball game and the Cowboys’ playoff failure shows just how deep the rivalry and jokes run in the world of sports.
