New details from King Charles III’s coronation suggest Prince Harry’s patience with the royal family may have finally reached its limit. According to expert lip reader Jeremy Freeman, the Duke of Sussex was overheard making pointed comments during the historic May 2023 event-offering a rare, candid glimpse into his strained relationship with the monarchy.
Sitting next to Jack Brooksbank-husband of Princess Eugenie–Harry allegedly said, “I’m fed up with the way they treat me.” Brooksbank reportedly responded with, “It’s not the quiet life, is it?”

But things didn’t stop there. Freeman claims Harry continued, shaking his head and adding, “They don’t care.” The two men exchanged several more words before Harry ultimately said, “It’s an eventuality,” suggesting an unavoidable conclusion to ongoing tensions.
Coronation Marked a Return-and More Distance
Harry’s attendance at the coronation marked his first official appearance alongside the royal family since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. Notably, he sat several rows behind senior royals and did not wear military attire, a privilege reserved only for active working members of the monarchy.
Meghan Markle did not accompany him to the ceremony, staying in California to care for their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Her absence only fueled speculation about continued divisions between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal household.
Years of Rift Reignited in a Single Moment
While Harry didn’t name names during the alleged exchange, many believe his words were aimed at his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William. The family rift reportedly began in 2016 when Harry began dating Meghan Markle and has only worsened since the couple stepped down from royal duties in 2020.
Since then, the Sussexes have given high-profile interviews, produced revealing docuseries, and released Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare, all of which have deepened the cracks within the royal foundation.
Attempts to reconcile have been reported, but no resolution has been made public. If Freeman’s lip reading is accurate, it’s clear that despite public appearances, emotions remain raw-and healing still feels far off.
