Qatar piensa en Luka Modric. El fútbol del emirato quiere contar con el jugador del Real Madrid a partir de la próxima temporada. Tal y como ha reconocido el centrocampista, su prioridad absoluta es la de terminar su carrera, esa que no parece tener fin dado su rendimiento, en el Real Madrid. Sin fecha de caducidad, en el horizonte tiene el desafío de participar en el Mundial de Estados Unidos del 2026, en lo que podía ser un buen colofón a su carrera, pero de momento la decisión del adiós al fútbol en activo no está tomada.
Hasta ahora no ha habido contacto alguno entre club y jugador para plantear la renovación del contrato. El escenario es muy parecido a lo que sucedió en la temporada pasada, que terminó con la renovación del vínculo una campaña más. Su rendimiento está ahí, su mejor aval. Todo suma y todo resta, como el partido del sábado ante el Valencia y que terminó con derrota.

Lo cierto es que no hace falta mucha negociación y diálogo para cerrar los acuerdos entre Florentino Pérez y Luka Modric. La admiración es lo que preside este tipo de encuentros entre el presidente y el capitán. Son ya trece años desde que el croata llegara al Real Madrid y la identificación es total y absoluta. En unos días hablarán de nuevo y decidirán. Ahora está todo en juego, pero lo sucedido ante el Valencia no ayuda, como tampoco al técnico italiano.
El duro traspiés ante el Valencia
El croata sigue rindiendo y aportando al juego del equipo dirigido por Carlo Ancelotti. Lo que iban a ser minutos, han pasado a ser titularidades en choques de los denominados importantes y presencia de principio a fin. Además, de una regularidad casi total, ya que tan solo se ha perdido un partido por acumulación de amonestaciones y otro por decisión técnica, incluidos los de su selección.
El técnico madridista siempre que puede, pone a Modric de ejemplo de lo que debe ser un profesional dentro y fuera del terreno de juego. Sus números mejoran los de la pasada temporada
En lo temporada suma 47 partidos con el Real Madrid, tan solo no ha pisado el césped en dos, uno por sanción y otro por descanso, en la ida de la semifinal de Copa. Hay que añadir los ocho partidos con Croacia, con un total de 57 partidos. En los últimos diez choques del equipo blanco, en siete ha sido titular, incluyendo el de la tarde del sábado ante el Valencia, lo que indica claramente la importancia que está adquiriendo en el tramo decisivo del ejercicio. De seguir este ritmo podría estar muy cerca de sumar un total de ochenta partidos en la temporada.
De hecho, en la pasada campaña jugó 47 partidos con el Real Madrid, sumando 2.263 y en el presente temporada ya ha igualado ese número de apariciones, con 2.266 minutos.
