Sevilla – Atlético: Un triunfo contra la depresión

SPORTIVO
Article arrow_drop_down

Did Shedeur Sanders get drafted? Colorado QB shocks by falling past first three rounds of NFL Draft 2025

Getty Images It happened: Colorado's quarterback Shedeur Sanders completely fell out the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Whether he should have been considered a draft day snub was up for debate, but the fact that he was not selected in the first 102 picks through the third round of the draft is an absolute shocker for a player who, over the last two seasons, threw for 64 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing nearly 72% of his passes.Through the pre-draft process, it was tough to remember a more enigmatic, polarizing, mostly perceived-to-be top quarterback prospect than Sanders. Some draft analysts liked him; most firmly believed he belonged later in the first round of the draft. After a stellar albeit not dominant two-year stint at Colorado, Sanders was hardly made available after the season. He did not participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl, did […]

Alejandro Kirk comes through for Blue Jays: ‘I needed it, the team needed it’

Editor’s note: We’re thrilled to introduce Mitch Bannon as our Blue Jays beat writer. A native of Toronto, he previously covered the team for SI.com. This is his first story for The Athletic.NEW YORK — Opportunity hasn’t been Alejandro Kirk’s problem. The Blue Jays’ catcher has walked to the plate 27 times this season with a runner in scoring position, constantly a swing away from igniting an offense that badly needs a spark.AdvertisementTaking advantage of those chances has been the hard part. A month after signing a five-year, $58 million extension, Kirk entered Friday with just five RBI in the exact situations built for cashing in runs, with a man on second or third. He’d hit just .217 with runners in scoring position this year with a .544 OPS. On Friday, opportunity finally met execution. With a ninth-inning swing, Kirk came […]

2025 NFL Draft picks by college team, school: SEC, Big Ten separate from pack as Ohio State leads the way

Getty Images The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft was dominated by power conference schools, as the SEC and Big Ten were ubiquitous during Thursday night's action with 26 of the first 32 picks coming from the two most powerful conferences in the sport. That trend continued on Friday night during Day 2, as 21 more players from the SEC and Big Ten heard their names called in the 32 second-round picks. While not a surprise, it's a reminder of the direction college football is trending, as the transfer portal and the opportunity to cash in on NIL deals has made it far less likely that an NFL talent will make it through their junior year at a smaller program. In total, 66 of the 102 players selected in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft finished their collegiate careers […]

NFL Draft 2025: Here’s how much money Shedeur Sanders missed out on by not being drafted in first three rounds

Getty Images The story of the 2025 NFL Draft has to do with a player who hasn't even heard his name called yet. Former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, was expected to be a first-round pick, but instead went unselected in the first three rounds of the draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers passed on him multiple times, while the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns all selected different quarterbacks. Every player will be given the opportunity to compete whether they are a first-round pick or seventh-round pick, but their paychecks will be very different. For example, No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward is expected to sign a deal projected to be worth $48,757,500, according to Spotrac, while Tyler Shough, who was drafted 40th […]

Luke Keaschall injury: Twins’ hot-hitting rookie suffers broken forearm

Matt Krohn Minnesota Twins promising rookie infielder/outfielder Luke Keaschall suffered a nondisplaced fracture in his right forearm on Friday, the club told reporters following the Twins' 11-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Keaschall suffered the injury when he was struck by a pitch from Kyle Hendricks in the first inning. Keaschall, in the lineup at DH, was able to run the bases after being hit on the arm, but he was pinch-hit for when his spot came up again in the bottom of the third. According to Twins dugout reporter Audra Martin, the club does not have a timetable for Keaschall's return. That the fracture is nondisplaced is a positive, but it still figures to be a lengthy absence for the 22-year-old. According to the Baseball Prospectus injury database, recovery time for forearm fractures tends to range from a bit […]
