Aus dieser Alba-Mannschaft wird man nur schwer schlau.
Wettbewerbs-übergreifend sechsmal in Folge hatten die Berlin verloren. Dann schlagen sie in der Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga das Überraschungs-Team Rasta Vechta mit 83:58 (44:29) und melden sich im Kampf um die Play-In-Plätze zurück. Weil die Euroleague-Truppe im Duell der Trainer-Freunde zwischen Pedro Calles (41) und Martin Schiller (43/arbeiteten drei Jahre zusammen in Quakenbrück) endlich mal wieder ihr Potenzial ausschöpft und abliefert.
„Das tut sehr, sehr gut“, sagte ein sichtlich erleichterter Louis Olinde (27) bei Dyn. „Wir haben heute wirklich vier Viertel konzentriert gespielt. Genau das, was wir machen wollten.“
[–>Am Freitag hatten die Berliner in der Königsklasse gegen Olympiakos Piräus mit 92:100 verloren. Zum zweiten Heimspiel in 40 Stunden mussten sie zum ersten Mal in dieser Saison in die Max-Schmeling-Halle (8500 Plätze) umziehen, weil in der Uber-Arena (14.500 Plätze) die Eisbären Berlin im Eishockey-Halbfinale gegen die Adler Mannheim antraten. In der engen Schmeling-Halle hatte Alba in den ersten Jahren acht von elf Meisterschaften eingefahren – der Umzug beflügelte die Albatrosse!

Olinde: „Ich mag es gerne hier zu spielen, das ist eine coole Halle. Es sind immer viele Leute da, gute Stimmung. Ich wohne hier direkt um die Ecke, von daher ist es ganz entspannt, zum Spiel zu kommen. Hier immer mal wieder zu spielen ist ein cooles Gefühl.“
Dabei blieb Calles der Alba-Philosophie trotz der schlechten Ergebnisse treu und rotierte den Kader durch. So bekamen diesmal David McCormack (25), Matteo Spagnolo (22) und Elias Rapieque (21) eine Pause.
Die ersten zähen Minuten waren vor allem von Defensiv-Aktionen geprägt.
Das lag auch daran, dass die Gäste ohne ihren angeschlagenen Top-Scorer Brandon Randolph (27) in der Offensiv-Krise stecken. Bei der Heimniederlage gegen Ludwigsburg vergangene Woche hatte Vechta seit Ende des dritten Viertels keinen einzigen Korb aus dem Feld erzielt. Und auch in Berlin trafen sie bis auf drei Freiwürfe zunächst nichts. Nach spielübergreifend schier endlosen 19 Minuten und 22 Minuten brach dann Mike Bothwell (25) den Bann (16:5).

Weil Rasta ebenfalls stark verteidigte, hielt sich der Rückstand nach dem ersten Viertel (19:7) trotz der grausamen Wurf-Quote (2/16) sogar noch im Rahmen. Doch im zweiten Abschnitt zog Alba auf bis zu 17 Punkte weg (44:27). Matt Thomas (30) und Martin Hermannsson (30) liefen heiß, trafen zusammen fünf Dreier. Dazu domnierte Alba bis zur Halbzeit unter den Körben im Kampf um Abpraller.
Nach der Pause wächst der Vorsprung sogar auf bis zu 26 Zähler (70:44/30.). Formal spielt hier zwar der Tabellen-Vierzehnte gegen den Siebten – aber auf dem Parkett sieht es genau andersherum aus.
Einzige Berliner Schrecksekunde: In der 29. Minute rammt Rasta-Mann Joel Aminu (27) Herrmannsson den Ellbogen ins Gesicht! Der Isländer bleibt mit blutiger Lippe liegen, Betreuer und Physio eilen zu Hilfe. Zum Glück kann er kurz darauf weitermachen…
Vechtas Trainer Schiller bleibt an der Bande lange ruhig, versucht auch in seine Auszeiten seine Profis positiv zu unterstützen. Doch dreieinhalb Minuten platzt ihm der Kragen, weil sein Team aufgegeben hat. „Da ist keine Hingabe an das, was wir uns vorgenommenen haben“, schimpft er. Angereichert mit einer Menge nicht jugendfreier Schimpfwörter.
Beste Werfer: Thomas (18 Punkte) und Hermannsson (15) für Alba – Jason Gardener (16) für Vechta.
Schiller nach der vierten Pleite in Folge und so wenig Punkten wie diese Saison noch nie: „Es geht jetzt um konzentriertes Arbeiten. Danebenwerfen tut keiner absichtlich. Allerdings sind bestimmte andere Sachen nicht akzeptabel. Wir reden über das Umschaltspiel von Angriff zur Verteidigung.“
