„Dnes jsme ukázali rozdíl mezi oběma týmy, hráli jsme chytrý basketbal jak v útoku, tak v obraně, vyvarovali jsme se výpadkům ve hře. Teď už se všichni moc těšíme na finále, bude to pro nás další výzva,“ řekl do televizních kamer Nova Sport trenér Žabin Viktor Pruša.
Úvod zápasu byl oboustranně nervózní a doprovázela ho nepřesná střelba. Žabiny stále bez zraněné reprezentační rozehrávačky Elišky Hamzové se dostaly do brejku, který řídila slovenská reprezentantka Nikola Dudášová, jež svých úvodních 12 bodů zaznamenala se stoprocentní úspěšností. Celkově pak zatížila konto soupeřek 24 body a byla nejlepší střelkyní zápasu. S 18 body se k ní přiblížila její spoluhráčka, americká pivotmanka Stephanie Kostowiczová, nejlepší českou střelkyní byla v derby hostující Karolína Šotolová s 15 body.
Domácí hráčky založily svoji hru na důsledné obraně a když k tomu přidaly přesnější střelbu, jejich náskok postupně narůstal až na poločasových třiadvacet bodů. Rozdíl mezi zkušeným týmem Žabin s řadou zahraničních hráček a ryze tuzemským kádrem Královopolanek byl patrný i ve druhém poločase. Hráčkám KP se dál nedařila střelba a rozjetý tým Žabin derby v pohodě dovedl k vysokému vítězství.
„Hrály jsme pěkný basketbal a myslím, že ten rozdíl dnes odpovídal poměru sil na hřišti,“ řekla kapitána Žabin Petra Záplatová. „Byl to pro nás den blbec, nic nám nevycházelo, nic nefungovalo, Žabiny nás předčily ve všech směrech,“ konstatovala trenérka KP Tany Marcela Krämer.
