Tras ese encuentro ante el Toulouse, Asensió solo jugó 18 minutos en los siguientes ocho partidos de Ligue 1. Y en los siguientes cuatro de Champions, sólo 7. El ostracismo fue evidente, pero según ha podido saber MARCA esa conversación nunca existió. Asensio dejó de contar para Luis Enrique, pero la relación no sufrió ningún desencuentro de ningún tipo. El entrenador español no dio explicaciones y Asensio no las pidió.

El jugador, tras verse alejado de los terreno de juego, sí que decidió buscar una salida y la opción del Aston Villa, que ya le había querido en el verano de 2023, fue la mejor.
