Jamie Gittens (20) steht vor dem nächsten Karriereschritt – allerdings wohl nicht mehr in Dortmund.
Der englische Flügelspieler, einst als Zukunftsstar beim BVB gefeiert, strebt laut Sky einen Wechsel im Sommer an. Demnach hat Gittens den BVB-Verantwortlichen bereits signalisiert, dass er den Klub nach dieser Saison verlassen möchte

Dabei steht Gittens in Dortmund noch bis 2028 unter Vertrag. 2020 war er von Manchester City zur Borussia gewechselt, über die U19 schaffte er den Sprung in den Profikader. Inzwischen bringt es der Junioren-Nationalspieler auf 100 Einsätze für den BVB. Beim jüngsten 4:1 gegen den SC Freiburg beendete er als Joker sogar seine monatelange Torflaute.
Aber: Gittens ist unter Trainer Niko Kovac nicht mehr gesetzt. Der setzt vermehrt auf eine Dreierkette – in diesem System haben klassische Flügelflitzer wie Gittens kaum eine Rolle. Deshalb kommt der pfeilschnelle Außen kaum noch auf Spielzeit.
Auch beim BVB scheint man sich mit einem Abgang bereits zu beschäftigen. Ursprünglich wollte man mit Gittens noch groß Kasse machen, rund 100 Millionen Euro standen als Wunsch-Ablöse im Raum. Doch von dieser Summe ist man längst abgerückt.
Nach BILD-Informationen wäre Gittens wohl schon für 60 Millionen Euro zu haben.
Ein Verbleib des Flügelspielers ist aber nicht ausgeschlossen, sollte der BVB kein befriedigendes Angebot erhalten.
Entscheidend für die Ablöse könnte auch der weitere Saisonverlauf sein. Verpasst der BVB das internationale Geschäft – aktuell stehen die Dortmunder nur auf Platz acht – würde dem Klub ein wichtiger Einnahmeposten fehlen. Ein Verkauf von Gittens könnte dann helfen, die finanziellen Einbußen zumindest teilweise aufzufangen.
