Es wird sicher kein leichtes Spiel für den SC Magdeburg. Denn am Donnerstag (19 Uhr, Dyn) wird das Duell gegen den HC Erlangen nachgeholt. Jenes Spiel, das am 26. Dezember wegen des furchtbaren Autoanschlags vom Magdeburger Weihnachtsmarkt (mit sechs Todesopfern) ausgefallen und verschoben wurde.
Trotzdem freut sich Magdeburgs Trainer Bennet Wiegert (43) nicht nur auf dieses Heimspiel in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga. Denn der SCM darf jetzt gleich dreimal zu Hause spielen. In neun Tagen geht es nun gegen Erlangen (10.4.), TBV Stuttgart (16.4.) und die Rhein-Neckar Löwen (19.4.).

Wiegert freut sich auf Heimschläfer-Vorteil
Wiegert: „Ich mag Heimspiele, nicht nur wegen unserer Fans. Es gibt keinen Reisestress und ich schlafe lieber zu Hause im eigenen Bett, statt in einem Hotel. Ich hoffe, die drei Spiele sind dann punktetechnisch, wenn sie sich so abrechnen lassen, kein Nachteil für uns, sondern eher ein Vorteil.“
Die jüngsten Ausrutscher der Füchse Berlin (nur 31:31 gegen Erlangen), Hannover-Burgdorf (30:36 gegen Göppingen) und Flensburg (39:39 gegen Eisenach) sieht Wiegert im Meisterrennen als Warnsignal.
Der Coach: „Wir haben jetzt immer das Glück gehabt, dass wir danach gespielt haben, dass ich noch mal die Sinne schärfen, darauf eingehen konnte. Ich konnte schon im Hotel, wo wir die Spiele verfolgt haben, sagen: ,Leute, das kann uns auch passieren. Wir müssen einfach ready sein.‘“

Und Wiegert schiebt nach: „Das gibt uns jetzt in der Saison-Crunchtime viel Glaube zurück und der ist manchmal mehr wert als jede Taktik. Mir gefällt sehr, dass ich den Spielern was zu erzählen habe.“
Magdeburg liegt derzeit auf dem 5. Platz, aber nur, weil sie vier Spiele weniger bestritten haben als Tabellenführer Füchse Berlin und der Zweite MT Melsungen. Nach Minuspunkten sind die beiden Teams nur einen Zähler besser als der SCM.
[–>Wiegert: „Endlich haben wir diese Heimspiele und ich hoffe, dass wir da mal wieder herankommen und danach normal auf die Tabelle schauen können.“ Kein großes Verständnis hat er allerdings dafür, dass der SCM am Wochenende spielfrei hat: „Ich vermute, die HBL erlaubt wohl keine Spiele an den Tagen des DHB-Pokals. Der Fokus soll wohl auf dem Final4 liegen.“
