Nedávno se Rubljov s pětačtyřicetiletým Safinem domluvili na pravidelné spolupráci a oficiálně ji odstartovali v Monte Carlu. Bývalá světová jednička doplnila Fernanda Vicenteho, který Rubljova vede dlouhodobě.
Na jak dlouho se se Safinem dohodl, hráč neupřesnil. „Doufám, že to bude na hodně dlouho, ale bude záležet na tom, jestli ho to bude bavit, nebo to pro něj se mnou bude utrpení,“ prohlásil vítěz 17 turnajů ATP, kterého ve druhém kole v Monte Carlu čeká Francouz Gaël Monfils.
