Antes desse confronto, ele jamais havia marcado um gol de falta em sua trajetória como profissional. Agora, se tornou o primeiro jogador a anotar dois gols dessa forma em um mata-mata da Champions League. O técnico Mikel Arteta exaltou a atuação do jogador e o resultado.
