Antes da bola rolar para América de Cali x Corinthians, Cicinho já não estava nada otimista com o time paulista. Além de ir a campo com uma equipe alternativa, o ex-lateral do São Paulo lembrou que o Timão não costuma ter êxitos em competições organizadas pela Conmebol.
Na estreia, os comandados de Ramón Díaz foram derrotados pelo Huracán-ARG por 2 a 1, em plena Neo Química Arena, iniciando já com o pé esquerdo.
“O problema do Corinthians é espantar este trauma de competições sul-americanas. É o que a gente sempre diz… Buenas noites, Buenos dias… isso é o que arrebenta o Corinthians”, disse Cicinho com uma boa dose de provocação para Ronaldo Giovanelli.
Em campo, o Corinthians ficou no empate em 1 a 1 com os colombianos. Depois de sofrer nos primeiros 45 minutos, o Timão cresceu na volta do intervalo, sobretudo com as entradas de Carillo e Yuri Alberto.
O gol corintiano veio aos 35 da segunda etapa com Matheuzinho, em chute desviado por Pestaña e que enganou Soto. Um ponto importante para os brasileiros.
Como fica o grupo do Corinthians?
O Corinthians somou o primeiro ponto no Grupo C da Copa Sul-Americana, enquanto o América de Cali foi a quatro com o empate e é líder momentâneo da chave. Por outro lado, o Huracán encara o Racing-URU nesta quinta-feira, em Buenos Aires.
Em caso de vitória, os argentinos retomam a ponta com seis pontos. No final de semana, o alvinegro encara o Palmeiras, pela terceira rodada do Brasileirão.
“Quero valorizar o esforço dos jogadores, que estão jogando com uma intensidade incrível. Nessa questão de manejar os esforços com o plantel que temos, vamos seguir competindo”, disse Ramón.
E na Libertadores, Cicinho?
Depois de acertar que o Corinthians cairia na fase pré da Libertadores, Cicinho segue acreditando que o São Paulo será o campeão do principal torneio continental deste ano. Apesar de Flamengo, Palmeiras e Internacional como favoritos, o comentarista da Band está otimista com o Tricolor.
“O São Paulo em Libertadores é forte. Pintou o campeão da Libertadores”, declarou o ex-jogador.
