Dak Prescott imitates Patrick Mahomes with physical transformation and earns new Cowboys nickname

Dak Prescott is entering the 2025 NFL season looking like a completely different man – literally.

After a frustrating and injury-riddled 2024 campaign, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback is back with a new mindset, a new body, and a new nickname, as teammates are taking notice of the dramatic change.

Prescott, who missed the second half of last season due to a hamstring injury, is already drawing comparisons to a younger version of himself.

Tight end Jake Ferguson posted a photo of Prescott to Instagram this week, calling him the “Slim Reaper,” and noting, “Down 50LB looking like a young 4!” The quarterback embraced the praise, reposting the story with the caption: “Slimothy, that’s me.”

The 31-year-old’s new physique has surprised fans and even sparked comparisons to Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, with some believing the Cowboys’ leader is finally locked in for a serious rebound.

Eyes on a fresh start in Dallas

Prescott‘s 2024 season was derailed after just eight games, in which he completed 185 of 286 passes for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. His injury coincided with the Cowboys’ downward spiral, as the team finished 7-10 and missed the playoffs.

That result ultimately led to a coaching shake-up – with head coach Mike McCarthy let go and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer taking the reins.

Now working under his third head coach, Prescott is preparing to lead the Cowboys back to relevance. But this time, the margin for error may be smaller.

The Cowboys also acquired rookie quarterback Joe Milton III from the New England Patriots, signaling a potential succession plan if Prescott fails to deliver.

Milton, who played at Tennessee and was drafted by New England before being traded, spoke highly of Prescott during an interview with NBC Sports: “It’s great, he is a great person.

“This is my second time meeting him, so just being around him I feel the great energy that he brings and just willing and look forward to learn from him and really compete.”

The dynamic between the veteran and rookie will be a storyline to watch throughout training camp and beyond.

“Slimothy” embraces pressure heading into 2025

Prescott‘s offseason transformation is more than just a physical change – it’s a statement of intent. Shedding 50 pounds wasn’t simply about aesthetics; it was about longevity, speed, and recommitment.

The nickname “Slimothy” may have started as a lighthearted jab, but it’s now symbolic of a quarterback laser-focused on rewriting the narrative around his career.

The Cowboys haven’t made significant roster additions this offseason, so much of the responsibility will fall on Prescott to elevate the offense. With Ezekiel Elliott now long gone, Tony Pollard departed, and CeeDee Lamb entering a contract year, the pressure to produce is mounting.

Prescott is well aware of the stakes. Entering the final year of his deal, he’ll need a standout campaign not only to secure a playoff run for Dallas but to possibly land another big contract – whether in Dallas or elsewhere.

If his new look is any indication, Prescott is leaving no stone unturned. And as the “Slim Reaper” gears up for training camp, Cowboys fans may have a reason to believe that the best is still yet to come.
