Wiedersehen mit dem Ex-Klub! Wenn der SC Magdeburg am Donnerstag (19 Uhr, Dyn) gegen den HC Erlangen spielt, ist’s für Tim Zechel (28) ein besonderes Duell. Drei Jahre spielte der Kreisläufer dort – jetzt jagt er mit dem SCM die Meisterschaft.
„Gegen den alten Klub zu spielen ist immer ein bisschen was Besonderes. Man versucht natürlich, eine besonders gute Leistung zu zeigen“, sagt Zechel zu SPORT BILD. Und: „Man kennt vielleicht die eine oder andere Vorliebe. Aber ob das ein richtiger Vorteil ist, wage ich zu bezweifeln.“
Erlangen ist im Aufwind – zuletzt gab es starke Remis gegen Hannover und die Füchse. Zechel warnt: „Sie sind nicht berechenbar, spielen unfassbar emotional und körperbetont. Sie können jede Mannschaft schlagen. Erlangen darf man nie unterschätzen.“
[–>Für den SCM beginnt mit dem Spiel eine Heimspiel-Serie mit drei Partien in neun Tagen. Aktuell liegt Magdeburg nach Minuspunkten nur noch einen Zähler hinter der Spitze – bei vier Spielen weniger!
Zechel: „Die Gier auf den Titel ist noch mal mehr gestiegen. Jetzt liegt es nicht mehr nur in der Hand der anderen. Wir wollen da weitermachen, wo wir zuletzt aufgehört haben – mit dem Aufwind aus der Champions League und dem Derby-Sieg.“
Körperlich ist die Saison brutal: „Wir spielen fast jeden dritten Tag, haben wenig freie Tage, viele Video-Sitzungen. Das ist mental sehr anstrengend. Umso schöner, wenn man ein paar Stunden mehr zu Hause ist und nicht so viel reisen muss.“

Privat läuft’s auch – Zechel steht kurz vor der Beendigung seines Bachelor-Studiums im Sportmanagement. „Ich bin gerade am Lernen für eine Klausur. Wenn alles gut läuft, bin ich bis zur neuen Saison durch.“
Dabei hilft ihm Ehefrau Jule – seine größte Motivatorin. „Sie guckt natürlich auch ein bisschen, dass ich nicht nur auf der faulen Haut liege“, sagt Zechel lachend. „Sie hat einen Bachelor in Business Administration und einen Master in Wirtschaftspsychologie und arbeitet im Employer Branding. Sie hat auf jeden Fall schon gut vorgelegt und das auch im jungen Alter. Das ist natürlich noch mal Motivation.“
