Selbst Boss Frank Meinertshagen (57) gestand vor der Partie bei Dyn: „Wir planen definitiv schon für die ProA nächste Saison.“

Andererseits hatte die BG gegen die Hamburger nichts zu verlieren und begann mit überraschend aggressiver Verteidigung. Das erste Viertel war definitiv nichts für Basketball-Feinschmecker: Die Towers wirkten fahrig und nicht 100 Prozent bei der Sache, Göttingen konnte schlicht nicht besser. So dauerte es bis ins zweite Viertel, bis sich die Türme zum ersten Mal absetzen konnten (33:26/15.).
Die wenigen Highlights lieferte Hamburgers Monster-Dunker Kur Kuath (26). Und Mannschafts-Kollege Niklas Wimberg (29), der mit einem Dreier die 1000-Punkte-Marke knackte (13.).
Auch nach der Pause dasselbe Bild: Wenn die Türme in ihrer Struktur blieben, hatte die BG keine Chance – sobald sie zu lässig wurden, kamen die Göttinger wieder ran. Trainer Benka Barloschky (37) nahm eine Auszeit und erinnerte sie Profis daran. Es folgte ein 10:0-Lauf der Towers (66:50). Die Vorentscheidung.
Im wahrsten Sinne überragender Mann des Abends war Kuath, der unter beiden Körben dominierte. Der Mann aus dem Südsudan schaffte mit 13 Punkten und 12 Rebounds ein „Double-Double“. Doch damit nicht genug: Kuath steuerte noch vier Assists bei und blockte drei Würfe!

Am Ende gab für Hamburg Talent Nelson Martin (18) sein Bundesliga-Debüt. Der Youngster von Kooperationspartner Rist Wedel (3. Liga) machte in 5:24 Minuten 6 Punkte: „Um ehrlich zu sein, war ich extrem nervös vor dem Spiel“, gestand Martin bei Dyn. „Aber als ich reinkam, wusste ich, was ich zu tun habe. Ich bin auch stolz, dass der Coach mir das Vertrauen gibt Point Guard zu spielen.“
Top-Scorer: für Göttingen Deion Hammond (25) mit 20 Punkten, für Hamburg Johnathan Stove (29) mit 15.
Die Towers feiern ungefährdet den vierten Sieg in Serie (und sechs aus den letzten sieben) und sind plötzlich sogar wieder im Rennen um die direkten Play-off-Plätze.
