After recently welcoming her fourth child, Finnley, with her husband, retired NFL player Jason Kelce, Kylie Kelce is opening up about a common dilemma many parents face: whether or not older siblings should receive gifts when a new baby is born.
On the latest episode of her podcast, Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, the mom of four shared her perspective on this issue.
In a candid Q&A segment, Kylie explained that while she previously voiced strong opinions about birthday gift-giving-insisting that only the birthday child should receive presents-she has a different take when it comes to siblings welcoming a new family member.
She acknowledged that though the arrival of a new sibling is exciting, the newborn does very little to engage with the older kids in the early stages.
“I do think that it’s lovely to give siblings a gift when a new baby comes home. I think because Mom specifically is going to be so tied up, and I think that it’s okay to help them feel special,” Kylie said.
“Yes, they are getting a sibling, and yes, that is exciting, but everybody knows that for a 5, a 4, and a 2-year-old, what’s a newborn baby doing? Nothing. The answer is nothing,” she said, with a laugh.
Special gifts for siblings: A thoughtful gesture
Kylie went on to say that it can be a lovely idea to give siblings a gift to help them feel special during this big transition. She suggested something simple, like new coloring books, which would allow older children to engage quietly while everyone adjusts to the new arrival.
“It’s okay to help them feel special,” Kylie emphasized, explaining that the act of giving a small gift can ease the shift in attention when a new baby comes home.
Her insights reflect a balanced approach to parenting, acknowledging both the excitement of a new sibling and the emotional needs of the older children. Fans of Kylie and Jason Kelce can appreciate her practical yet thoughtful advice, making the journey of expanding their family a little easier for everyone involved.
