UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn has sparked serious concern among fans and the MMA community after sharing a series of alarming posts on Instagram, claiming that several of his close family members have been murdered and replaced by imposters. In a string of videos and captions, the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion alleged that his mother, Lorraine Shin, along with his brothers Jay Dee Penn, Reagan Penn, and Kalani Mamazuka, were killed and replaced by individuals posing as them.
“My mother Lorraine Shin, my brother Jay Dee Penn, my brother, Reagan Penn and my brother Kalani Mamazuka [were] all murdered and I need [police] to investigate these guys get these people out of my house and my off my properties,” Penn wrote in one of the captions.
Penn’s posts raise concerns about his mental health
The 45-year-old Hawaiian native presented what he believes to be evidence, pointing out physical differences in his family members’ appearance as proof of the alleged imposters.
In one video, Penn highlighted his brother’s teeth, saying: “Real Jay Dee has all of his teeth and a pointy chin. Fake Jay Dee is taller and has a crooked front left tooth and no back teeth, even though me, Jay Dee and Reagan never had a cavity in our whole entire lives.”
Penn also shared screenshots of text messages where he appears to demand close-up images of his family’s facial features, along with photographs he took himself. The posts suggest that he has grown increasingly paranoid, even requesting DNA testing and intervention from law enforcement.
“If I harm any of these people that are acting like my mom or my brothers, I go to jail and lose everything. If they harm me, nothing will happen to them and I lose everything… I have many black belts over the years that are police officers. Are you guys gonna help me? Are we going to help Jd and Reagan and my mother and look for them and investigate these fake frauds who are trying to steal everything from my family?” he wrote in a caption.
The videos have sparked widespread concern about Penn’s well-being. Many MMA fans and professionals are calling for those close to him to check in and offer support. Others fear that Penn, who has been known for erratic behavior in recent years, may be suffering from a mental health crisis.
