Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has been released from hospital after being monitored overnight following a head collision with team-mate Alex Jimenez during Friday’s four-goal Serie A win at Udinese.
The Milan captain suffered a clash of heads with Jimenez in the 51st minute of Friday’s game, although the France international appeared to be conscious as he was stretchered from the pitch after receiving on-field treatment.

Milan confirmed to The Athletic that the 29-year-old spent Friday night in a Udine hospital to be monitored for concussion and was discharged on Saturday morning.
Maignan — who was replaced by Marco Sportiello at Udinese — will return to Milan training on Tuesday, where he will continue to be monitored by the club’s medical team.

Jimenez, 19, initially played on following the head collision but he was substituted off 22 minutes later, replaced by Riccardo Sottil.
After the match, Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao thanked the Udinese supporters for an “incredible gesture” in their support of Maignan as he was stretchered off.
“It impressed me,” Conceicao told Sky Sport Italia, as cited by Football Italia.
“There’s a player on one side, there’s a human on the other. They can whistle the player, but not the man. That applause was incredible gesture. In 40 years of football, I’ve rarely seen anything like it.”
In January 2024, Maignan left the Stadio Friuli pitch in-game after being targeted by alleged racist chants from Udinese supporters. The goalkeeper and his team-mates left the pitch for 10 minutes after reporting the abuse to the referee, and Serie A later ordered Udinese to play one match behind closed doors as punishment.
Milan secured a four-goal victory in Udine on Friday thanks to goals from Rafael Leao, Strahinja Pavlovic, Theo Hernandez and Tijani Reijnders.
Conceicao’s side, who are ninth in Serie A, return to action on April 20 at home to Atalanta.
