Barcelona Femeni defender Mapi Leon has been banned for two matches following an incident with Espanyol opponent Daniela Caracas during a Liga F match in February.
After that game, Espanyol expressed their “total discontent and condemnation” with the incident, which occurred in the 15th minute of the league derby between the two sides.

Video footage widely circulated on social media appeared to show Barcelona defender Leon, 29, inappropriately touching Caracas. Espanyol said the incident “violated the privacy of Caracas” and was “unacceptable and should not go unnoticed.”
The disciplinary committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have suspended Leon for two games, based on article 129 of its disciplinary code, which outlines “conduct contrary to good sporting conduct”, for which the maximum suspension was four matches.
Barca and Leon filed appeals on the suspension, going as far as the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but they have been unsuccessful in overturning the decision.
Espanyol said that 27-year-old Caracas, who had been “subject to hundreds of social media insults” after the incident and would have the full support of the club, including the availability of legal services.
Leon later released a statement via Barcelona in which she said “at no time did I violate, nor did I have the intention to violate” Caracas.
She added she had “the right to take legal action” against anyone who “continue to defame” her.
Leon is suspended for Barca’s home match against Atletico Madrid on Sunday and their league game against Sevilla on Wednesday.
The defender will return for Pere Romeu’s side’s Champions League semi-final against Chelsea, the first leg of which is played April 20.
Barca are currently one point ahead of second-place Real Madrid in Liga F, but have played one game fewer.
