With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, scouts and analysts are zeroing in on the elite traits that could define the next generation of professional football stars.
According to NFL analyst Bucky Brooks, three prospects in particular stand out for their unique “superpowers” – rare skills that could give them an edge at the next level.
Sanders protects Travis Hunter and calls him a once in a generation talent with God given gifts
Brooks, writing for NFL.com, identified Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter, and Ashton Jeanty as three players whose individual strengths separate them from the rest of the draft class.
Carter’s explosive quickness has NFL scouts watching closely
Abdul Carter, a standout linebacker from Penn State, is already earning comparisons to some of the NFL’s greatest pass rushers. Brooks pointed to Carter‘s “first-step quickness” and “snap-count anticipation” as his defining superpower – a combination that allows him to explode off the line of scrimmage and leave blockers trailing in his wake.
“The league’s elite pass rushers routinely display exceptional first-step quickness and snap-count anticipation,” Brooks said. “Carter pounces off the ball like a cat, showcasing a three-step burst that leaves blockers in a daze.”
Brooks even compared the Penn State star’s traits to Hall of Famers Derrick Thomas and Bruce Smith – two of the most feared sack artists in NFL history.
Hunter’s ball skills make him a rare two-way threat
Travis Hunter, the two-way star from Colorado, has been one of the most talked-about prospects in the 2025 draft class. As both a wide receiver and cornerback, Hunter‘s exceptional ball skills have set him apart.
Brooks described Hunter as having the ball-tracking ability of a professional baseball center fielder. His hand-eye coordination and ability to high-point the football make him a top-tier WR1 prospect, while also giving him game-changing potential as a defensive back.
“Hunter tracks the ball like an MLB center fielder, exhibiting outstanding over-the-shoulder technique and high-point skills in traffic,” Brooks explained.
Jeanty’s contact balance puts him in rare company
Ashton Jeanty, the Boise State running back and winner of the 2024 Doak Walker Award, has turned heads with his remarkable contact balance – the ability to stay upright and maintain speed through tackles.
Brooks praised Jeanty for blending power with finesse, allowing him to absorb hits and keep moving with fluid footwork and body control.
“Jeanty‘s unique ability to pinball off defenders without losing speed/quickness is a testament to his ballerina-like footwork, balance and body control,” Brooks wrote.
As NFL teams prepare for the draft, these three prospects have become prime examples of how elite traits can elevate players to stardom.
Whether it’s Carter‘s burst, Hunter‘s hands, or Jeanty‘s toughness, each has a skill set that could reshape their new teams from Day 1.
