Trotz der bitteren Hinspiel-Klatsche blickt Dortmunds Trainer Niko Kovac (53) kämpferisch nach vorn: „Wir sind Realisten. Das Ziel wäre natürlich, das Spiel zu gewinnen. Wir spielen daheim, vor unserem Publikum. Wie hoch, das kann und will ich nicht beantworten. Aber mit einem Sieg wäre ich schon zufrieden, und dann wird man sehen, ob es reicht – oder nicht. Aber wir wissen um die Schwierigkeit der Aufgabe.“
Ein Signal hat sein Team bereits gesetzt: Mit einem 2:2 beim FC Bayern – dem fast sicheren Meister – zeigte der BVB Moral und Qualität. Nur noch sechs Punkte trennen Schwarz-Gelb aktuell von den Champions-League-Rängen in der Bundesliga.
Ein gutes Omen für das Spiel?
Für das Rückspiel steht nun auch der Unparteiische fest: Die Uefa hat den Italiener Maurizio Mariani (42) angesetzt.
Der 42-Jährige ist seit 2019 Fifa-Schiedsrichter, hat bereits zwölf Partien in der Königsklasse geleitet – darunter auch ein erfolgreiches BVB-Spiel: 2022 gewann Dortmund unter seiner Leitung mit 4:1 beim FC Sevilla. Immerhin ein Ergebnis, das dem nahekommt, was es nun bräuchte, um gegen Barça weiterzukommen.
Ein Strohhalm? Vielleicht. Aber auf genau solche Geschichten hofft Fußball-Deutschland am Dienstagabend.

O recurso tentava levar a discussão ao Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), sob a alegação de ofensa a preceitos constitucionais, o que foi rejeitado. Trata-se de mais um capítulo da disputa pelos direitos sobre o spray evanescente — usado para demarcar a distância da barreira em cobranças de falta — desenvolvido pela Spuni e que, segundo a empresa, foi indevidamente utilizado pela Fifa após tratativas negociais frustradas.
