Poslední duel klubové sezony mohl gólmanovi Ducks Lukáši Dostálovi připomínat loňské semifinále mistrovství světa se Švédy. Úvodní branku mu totiž stejně jako v Praze dával Marcus Johansson. Po vyrovnání Alexe Killorna aréna Xcel Energy Center ztichla a po gólu Sama Colangela ve 49. minutě na 1:2 si diváci zakrývali oči.
„Tyhle zápasy nejsou jednoduché. Musíte získat body, ale hrajete proti týmům, které si počínají uvolněně,“ líčil další Dostálův známý z Prahy Joel Eriksson Ek, který nakonec Minnesotě zařídil kýžený bod.
Wild odvolali švédského brankáře Filipa Gustavssona, Mats Zuccarello poslal mezi dvěma beky pas na Matta Boldyho, který nezpanikařil a našel u tyče úplně volného Erikssona. Jeho první dorážku Dostál ještě kouzelnicky zastavil, ovšem na další už byl krátký. 22 sekund před koncem zavládla v hale euforie.
Minnesota už se nemusela strachovat, že ji přeskočí Calgary.
„Chtělo to trochu výdrže, abychom to dokázali, nakonec to přišlo dvacet sekund před koncem zápasu,“ oddechl si kouč Minnesoty John Hynes. „Jsem za kluky opravdu šťastný. Po celý rok tvrdě bojovali a teď máme šanci hrát o Stanley Cup.“

Domácí pak na prodloužení poslali loučící se 40letou legendu Marca-André Fleuryho, který zastavil všech pět střel a připsal si vítězství ve svém posledním zápase v základní části NHL. Má pořadové číslo 575. „Byla to zábava jít ještě jednou do akce a hrát hru, kterou tak miluju,“ prohlásil Fleury.
Dostál předvedl celkem 37 zákroků a před koncem prodloužení inkasoval gól na 2:3 po přesné ráně Boldyho. „Vyrovnaný zápas. Mohl dopadnout na obě strany. V závěru jsme to měli na dosah. A v prodloužení to taky bolelo, do konce scházelo nějakých 18 sekund,“ litoval český mistr světa, který sezonu zakončil s 23 výhrami, gólovým průměrem 3,10 a úspěšností zákroků 90,3 procenta.
