Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has stepped up his recovery from an ankle injury by returning to training at Kirkby.
The England international has missed the past four matches since limping out of last month’s Champions League last-16 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold only took part in elements of Wednesday’s session as he will be gradually integrated back into full training by head coach Arne Slot and his staff.

However, the vice-captain’s impending return to action will provide a further boost for Slot as Liverpool, who are 13 points clear of second placed Arsenal, look to wrap up the Premier League title.
It remains to be seen whether Sunday’s trip to Leicester City comes too soon for the the academy graduate to feature. A more likely comeback date is the visit of Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield the following Sunday.
The Athletic revealed last month that Alexander-Arnold was confident of playing again by the end of April after being diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.
His contract at Anfield expires this summer with Real Madrid confident of finalising a deal to sign him on a free transfer. Alexander-Arnold has yet to confirm his plans beyond this season and Slot has made it clear that he will continue to select him when he’s fit and available.
“Trent’s situation is that unfortunately he’s injured,” Slot told reporters earlier this month when asked about Real Madrid’s pursuit of him. “He’s fully focused on his recovery and we are trying to help him to get back as soon as we can.”
Darwin Nunez took part in team training on Wednesday. Slot said the Uruguayan attacker missed last Sunday’s 2-1 win over West Ham United due to feeling unwell.
Joe Gomez (hamstring) was the only absentee but he’s confident of playing again before the end of the season.
Liverpool will be crowned champions on Sunday if Arsenal lose at Ipswich Town and they subsequently beat Leicester.
