Are you Ready For It??
The Super Bowl is still on the agenda. After the Philadelphia Eagles‘ claws ripped Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs‘ 40-22 victory, another athlete stole the show: Serena Williams.
Serena Williams admits she’s lost control of the car radio
The winner of 23 Grand Slams had a brief cameo in Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show dancing to “Not Like Us” and, although many thought it was a direct attack on Drake, her ex, Serena denied it. The former tennis player made it clear that it was part of a tribute to Compton, Williams and Lamar’s hometown. “It was simply a gesture of admiration” she declared for TIME magazine, after being chosen as one of the 100 most influential people again.
What caught the eye, however, was her distance from her friend of more than a decade, Taylor Swift. The 14-time Grammy winner was present in the box cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and they were expected to have at least a brief exchange with Serena. Contrary to popular belief, they kept their distance. What happened?
While Williams’ mission was to get Swift’s autograph for her daughter, Olympia, and have a nice moment with the artist during halftime, the tennis legend changed her plans when she saw the outcome of the match. “I’m a real mom, I was ready to go in and say, ‘Taylor, come get this girl,'” Williams told TIME.
Reflecting back, Serena admitted that “It’s hard when your team is losing” and that she understood it wasn’t the best time “perfectly.”

Serena and Taylor’s friendship
The former athlete has been spotted at several of the artist’s concerts, even taking the stage with her. In 2015, while Swift was on tour with “The 1989 Wolrd Tour”, Serena surprised fans in London’s Hyde Park, making clear the great bond that unites them.
In addition, Williams cleared all kinds of doubts regarding her friendship with Tay by defending her from booing fans in the run-up to the Super Bowl. Using her X account, Serena wrote: “I love you @taylorswift13 don’t listen to those boo’s!”. Even being considerate of her friend’s tough time and not wanting to interrupt her to get her autograph for her daughter already makes their bond clear.
They may not have shared a moment together at the Super Bowl, but without a doubt, they still share a true friendship.
