Toniquim e a pirâmide

Nossa história começa em 1942. Ao entrar na Segunda Guerra Mundial, o Brasil fez um acordo para fornecer borracha para a indústria bélica americana. O governo criou um serviço especial que alistava jovens para extrair látex na Amazônia. Sessenta mil brasileiros, quase todos nordestinos, foram enviados para os seringais e ficaram conhecidos como os “soldados da borracha”.

O potiguar Acelino Aquino foi um deles. Recrutado no Rio Grande do Norte — foi parar no Seringal Bagé, na área rural de Rio Branco, capital do Acre. A guerra acabou e Acelino permaneceu — talvez sem recursos para voltar para casa. Conheceu Araci. Se casou. Abriu um pequeno comércio e foi ficando. Em 1947, o casal teve um filho que batizou de Antonio. Antonio Aquino Lopes.

Baixinho, atarracado e inteligente — o menino ganhou o apelido de Toniquim. Tentou a vida como jogador de futebol. Com 1,60m, se tornou ponta direita do Vasco local e jogou por outros times até terminar a carreira no Diabo Laranja, o hoje extinto Amapá-AC. Na memória do futebol acreano, há uma foto do escrete em 1978:

Em pé, da esquerda para a direita: Zé da Gorda, Toniquim, Azeitona, Buda, Lúcio, Ronaldo e João. Agachados: Regino, Maguim, Bira, Tavares, Chicana e Pintinho.

Como atletas, quase todos despontaram para o anonimato. Menos o ex-ponta direita.

Na última quarta-feira, vinte e seis coroas de flores, uma de cada federação brasileira, adornavam o Hall da Federação de Futebol do Acre (FFAC). Eram as proverbiais homenagens finais ao falecido presidente da entidade. No centro do salão, parentes e amigos velavam Antonio Aquino Lopes — fulminado por um infarto na noite anterior. Dali o caixão sairia para desfilar num carro de Bombeiros até o cemitério Morada da Paz. Descansará ali um simbólico brasileiro.

Brioso em campo, Toniquim se revelou craque mesmo nos bastidores. Estudou, se formou como advogado, virou dirigente do Amapá, depois do Rio Branco-AC e em 1984 assumiu a chefia do futebol acreano. O Brasil ensaiava o fim da ditadura. Toniquim se sentou na cadeira para não mais levantar. Permaneceria nela por 41 anos acumulando 13 mandatos.

Suas conexões na CBF ajudaram a financiar a construção do Florestão — que seria o principal estádio acreano não fosse… o Florestinha — ou Arena da Floresta — erguido pelo governo estadual. O Florestinha (13,8 mil) é maior que o Florestão (10 mil) — mas isso é um detalhe. Até porque o primo aumentativo tem outro apelido. Línguas ferinas insistem em chamá-lo de Tonicão. Talvez porque o nome oficial do estádio seja… Antonio Aquino Lopes.

No Egito, as pirâmides eram tumbas em que os faraós acreditavam garantir transição segura para o outro mundo — onde seguiriam reinando e sendo adorados. Toniquim inverteu um pouco essa lógica: construiu o Tonicão em vida — e passou a trabalhar dentro dele (o “complexo” virou sede da FFAC). Não por acaso… o velório do dirigente ocorreu lá. Um caso raro, talvez único, de homem velado dentro de si mesmo.

O presidente da CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, decretou luto oficial, telefonou para a viúva Maria Rosélia e enviou um representante para o enterro. A cerimônia foi até adiada para esperá-lo. Afinal, Antonio Aquino Lopes era vice-presidente eleito da entidade.

Na Era Toniquim, o Brasil deixou a ditadura, teve oito eleições, sete presidentes, quatro moedas diferentes, uma nova constituição e dois impeachments. No seu último dia, o filho de Acelino e Araci deu expediente até 17h, tomou caldo de cana com os funcionários da federação e foi para casa. Passou mal e não resistiu. Só assim deixou seu trono dentro do Tonicão — e rumou para o outro mundo.
