Depois de seis jogos no comando do Botafogo, com duas vitórias, dois empates e duas derrotas, Renato Paiva sofre críticas da torcida, mas a direção do clube entende que é tempo de amadurecer. O duelo pelo Brasileiro contra o Atlético-MG em Belo Horizonte, hoje, às 16h, na reedição da final da Libertadores, será um bom parâmetro para medir a evolução do trabalho, do técnico e dos atletas.
Até agora, o português tem sido bem avaliado pela SAF alvinegra, que pretende dar um tempo maior de encaixe entre Renato Paiva e o elenco antes de acender o alerta pela má campanha na defesa do título nos pontos corridos. O diagnóstico é de que o treinador não é o único que precisa amadurecer e encontrar o ponto ideal para a equipe. Os próprios atletas reconhecem que precisam melhorar, individual e coletivamente.
A onda de demissões no Brasileirão fez a diretoria do Botafogo trocar informações com profissionais de outros clubes para entender a sangria. E o diagnóstico geral é de falta de convicção. Por isso, Renato Paiva segue com respaldo, pois foi escolhido para se encaixar no projeto como um todo, e não pelo nome. Em termos de conceitos, o português agrada internamente e de certa maneira surpreende. Mas diante da pressão por resultados, ainda é pouco.
Embora tenha iniciado o planejamento para acelerar a partir de abril, o Botafogo espera uma melhora na sequência. A troca de comando só será cogitada se o time não responder aos estímulos. A direção pesa o fato de que a equipe foi reformulada e os reforços ainda precisam se encaixar melhor. E não faz comparações com os treinadores anteriores por enquanto.
Convicção também em campo
Renato Paiva ainda não poderá contar com alguns jogadores como Santi Rodrigues e Nathan Fernandes. Existe uma expectativa pela repetição da última escalação contra o São Paulo, com Cuiabano na lateral esquerda no lugar de Alex Telles, e Matheus Martins no ataque. Vale lembrar que o treinador tem feito controle de carga no elenco e pode preservar outras peças de olho no confronto com o Estudiantes De La Plata pela Copa Libertadores na próxima semana. Após quatro jogos no Brasileiro, o Botafogo soma apenas 5 pontos.
No Atlético-MG, a situação não é muito diferente. O clube busca vencer a primeira no Brasileirão e deixar a zona de rebaixamento após a quinta rodada. As baixas no departamento médico impactam na escalação do time. A comissão técnica segue sem contar com Guilherme Arana, Patrick, Alan Franco, Júnior Santos, Cadu, Caio Maia e Brahian Palacios. Por isso, Cuca deve manter a base do time que tem atuado, com possibilidades de Natanael recuperar a vaga pela lateral direito. Pelo meio, Igor Gomes briga por posição. Um novo tropeço, desta vez em casa, também fará com que o fantasma da demissão dos treinadores no Brasileirão assombre o Atlético-MG e o técnico Cuca, que tem cobrado reforços em meio ao desejo da diretoria de vender atletas para fazer dinheiro para a SAF.
