Tank Dell has become a familiar face around the Houston Texans’ training facility, but not for the reasons fans had hoped.
The dynamic wide receiver suffered a catastrophic knee injury late last season in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs, bringing his breakout campaign to a sudden halt. The incident, which saw Dell dislocate his kneecap and suffer multiple ligament tears, left teammates and fans shaken by its severity.

Though the 25-year-old is still a long way from returning to the field, he’s making headlines for an entirely different reason: a massive, full-leg tattoo that stretches from thigh to ankle.
Designed on his healthy leg during his recovery downtime, the artwork features a horror-movie theme complete with infamous characters like Chucky and Michael Myers, delivering one of the most eye-catching tattoos in the NFL.
Despite undergoing two knee surgeries and likely missing the entire 2025 season, Dell has remained a positive presence in the building.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans recently commented on Dell’s mindset during recovery: “Seeing Tank around the building the past couple of weeks, seeing the shift in his mindset, seeing renewed energy, seeing Tank being the Tank that everyone knows with a smile… I’m excited about that. That allows me to know he’s headed in the right direction of recovery.”
Texans General Manager Nick Caserio echoed that sentiment while maintaining a cautious approach to setting expectations.
“Try not to put any timetables on it, because none of us are doctors,” Caserio said.
“But he’s had a good attitude. He’s been in here, honestly, probably seen him every day. So, he’s in good spirits. He’s working hard. So, you take it one day at a time.”
The former Houston Cougars star ended last season with 51 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games.
His absence leaves a significant void in the Texans’ offense, prompting the team to trade for veteran receiver Christian Kirk in the offseason.
Though Dell’s return to football remains uncertain, one thing is clear, he hasn’t lost his flair for turning heads.
Whether it’s electrifying plays or spine-chilling ink, Tank Dell continues to leave his mark.
